It would seem to me that had the ACX Crystal wanted to deliberately ram the Fitzgerald, the container ship would have done much more damage than it actually did.
A vessel the size of that merchant ship wouldn’t have to “ram” per se with a precise site in mind, just make contact. The mass and speed of the cargo ship would do the rest. Especially if, for some reason, the destroyer was a sitting duck.
I think the Fitz is scrap. Look at the dockside images. Her bridge has a serious tilt and it is very possible her back is broken.
