Last Insurer in Delaware Requests Rate Hike of 33.6% For 2018

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield has requested a premium rate hike of 33.6 percent for 2018 to the Delaware Department of Insurance.

The state of Delaware has only two insurers participating on the exchanges this year and after Aetna announced in May that it will pull out of the Obamacare exchanges, Highmark will be the only insurer participating in the state in 2018.

This premium rate hike takes into account that both the cost-sharing subsidies and the individual mandate will not be in place next year.

I am sure there are a few good people in that Blue state. I hope for 500% increase for the ones that supported obama.

I like to think I am one.

It is like being behind enemy lines here.

At least I am in southern DE, which is a Republican/conservative bastion.

We are terribly outnumbered by the brain dead, Godless, soulless Demons in the more populous north,

We hear your quite voice in the blue wilderness.

I don’t believe I could handle being so outnumbered. I have learned that I don’t care to discuss politics with lefties.

Everybody loves bacon. Especially if it is free Washington bacon.

I also understand that eating two strips of bacon a day will keep a person from going SJS (Sudden Jihad Syndrome).

Of course. Monopolists demand monopolistic prices.

How much was it last year? Maybe Trumps policies are slowing it down.

North Wilmington (DE) here. I’m right in the middle of the snobby liberal area.

Well, at least my cul de sac is redder than the rest.

Hee hee! If Obama had offered free beacon to Obamacare subscribers, he might’ve gotten more sign ups!

I'm in Kent County, and I've just about given up on state politics. I think a good title for a country music song would be "I'm in a red county, in a blue state."

Another Kent County resident here. I’m fortunate to be in the 11th RD where we have a Republican rep and also in the 15th Senatorial Dist where we are represented by Dave Lawson who had the stones to walk out when the Dems sprung a Muslim preacher on the Senate.
Dems just hiked income taxes again today and still haven’t decided we need to cut spending drastically.
