Special counsel is investigating Trump for possible obstruction of justice, officials say

The special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 election is interviewing senior intelligence officials as part of a widening probe that now includes an examination of whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice, officials said.

The move by Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III to investigate Trump’s own conduct marks a major turning point in the nearly year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, officials said.

“Investigating Trump for possible crimes is a complicated affair, even if convincing evidence of a crime were found. The Justice Department has long held that it would not be appropriate to indict a sitting president. Instead, experts say, the onus would be on Congress to review any findings of criminal misconduct and then decide whether to initiate impeachment proceedings.”

Making this a spectacular waste of time.

Hillary is behind ALL this, there is no doubt, no guessing, no conspiracy thinking whatsoever, it is FACT. I have people I know who work in DC telling me this She is using all her connections in DC and the media to push this hoax

Hillary is too stupid to be the head of any snake. Maybe the tail. Her only power comes from cheating, getting elected and selling her office and that's pretty much over for her now.

Yeah I'm confused too - for the slow kids why is Sessions bad. I watched the hearing yesterday how did we lose that. What did Sessions do wrong? Mueller special prosecution will come to nothing.

Congress should send the president a bill that demands that upon signing Mueller is shutdown.

The republicans need to step up - force president Trump to shutdown this witch hunt (hehehe).

I'm just not seeing huge mistakes made by the 3rd party candidate president. The whip cream on this turd is getting blown away. What they've been pushing gets smellier and smellier an with a CR expiring coming up and members going home to voters that are incensed what is happening to president Trump, our nation and our franchise.

I know I'm a cool aid drinker but the first thing the clintons did when they got into office was get a hold of the FBI files - from there they expanded their influence peddling extortion network.

Cutting off the head - the way president Trump did shows he knows how this going to go and why they want to control agencies in a corrupt fashion like the FBI and IRS so they can use them to further political ends.

The media has blood on its hands - the republicans are running around in shock after their lack of sticking up for ... well everything American and opposing the radical progressives.

One man is calling for unity and sanity. One man is the adult in the room. One man has the resources to destroy Mueller at anytime. With the FBI in president Trumps control Supreme Court Justice Roberts can be reliably counted on to be conservative again.

The president should reference how comments like justice Ginsburg fuel leftest lunatic democrats to attack political opposition and she being indirectly responsible for this attack should recuse herself.

Bye Bye Buzzy - take McCain with you.

Watch Trump press the advantage. Taxes, The wall, Regulations, Nation Conceal Carry,

The thing is WE even need to stop feeding the swamp ourselves.....I’ve been ignoring most of the negative news on Trump and especially opinions etc..... it’s fruitless to even attempt to address this with people because they are so bloody (now) thick headed and stupid.

It’s been nice turning off the news for hours on end now.....and I haven’t missed a thing!

That’s my point. It would be very difficult for Trump to take it back. It’s been a week.

My point exactly! He’s wasting his time on that nonsense when there are a multitude of crimes committed under the previous administration in which the statute of limitations has not expired. This includes Clinton email hacks by foreign governments, Loretta Lynch, Lois Lerner, Eric Holder, etc.

Presidents withdraw nominations that have been submitted to the Senate in writing. It's not hard at all. A little bit of damage for reversing a decision, but not much damage.

I'm not saying he is or plans to not abide by his twitter-announced intention, by the way. You said Wray was nominated. Call it what you want. I'm in favor of total freedom in labeling, as long as the labels are defined.

As a matter of the formalities, what we have is an expression of intention to nominate, delivered to the public via twitter. Until the nomination is delivered to the Senate in writing, the Senate has no nominee to consider.

Sessions is being blamed for not stopping the hiring of Mueller or some such nonsense. Sessions basically single handedly shut down the Russia probe yesterday. He met 1000 different people at receptions and said hello, but this one contact was special? He left Comey alone in his pussyhat in the Oval Office. The horror! And the only things the witch hunters could come up with is how much did you talk about Russia with Trump? Duh, none, he recused himself.

The bottom line is that ComPost's compost is their last gasp to get at Trump. No Russia? Well then we must look for obstruction of a nonexistent investigation of a non-crime.

Republicans want outside prosecutor to probe leaks

Associated Press

June 12, 2012

Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday fended off Republican demands that he appoint a special counsel outside of the Justice Department to look into national security leaks.

Holder said both he and FBI Director Robert Mueller have already been interviewed by the FBI as part of a fast-moving Justice Department leak investigation.

At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said they want the attorney general to appoint a special counsel to look into the leaks, rather than Holder’s choices, U.S. Attorneys Ron Machen and Rod Rosenstein, who hold political appointments.

Letting this fester until 2018 guarantees suicide for the GOP.

You're right, but that makes me wonder...

Could this be the purpose of leaking this? How long does Mueller have to come up with any results? Might he and the dems deliberately try to stretch this out for a year and a half?

I think the "Contragate" investigation indicted Cap Weinberger the night before the 1992 election.

This very well could be the game plan!

Good question. The DOJ rules should be reviewed. Similarly to moving defendants away from jurisdictions where they might not get an impartial jury pool, an Independent Counsel should be hired from outside the DC swamp.

Yeah probably not true but even if so, who cares? As to Trump, all Mueller could do is refer the charges to the House, which would have to impeach, before trial by the Senate. The likelihood of that resulting him being impeached is near zero.

make them cite the statute. there is none that applies here. the media is “diabolical” .... which means:

“Like the word devil, ‘diabolical’ traces back to Latin diabolus, which itself descends from Greek diabolos, a word that literally means ‘slanderer.’ In English, ‘diabolical’ has many nuances of meaning. It can describe the devil himself (as in ‘my diabolical visitor’ ) or anything related to or characteristic of him in appearance, behavior, or thought; examples include ‘diabolical lore,’ ‘a diabolical grin,’ and ‘a diabolical plot.’ In British slang, ‘diabolical’ can also mean ‘disgraceful’ or ‘bad,’ as in ‘the food was diabolical.’”

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/diabolical

the media slanders, the Democrats get on board, and they together press their diabolical plots.

Let me get this straight:

We have two individuals. One, in her capacity as Secretary of State created a private server, which she kept hidden from officials at State and the Obama administration. She trafficked in classified information, and, when discovered, she lied under oath, stonewalled, deleted, scrubbed and physically destroyed the computer. Then, after her ex-president husband met with the sitting Attorney General, the matter was (at least temporarily) made to go away.

The other individual wished that a bullcrap Russian collusion of a appointee of a decent human being would 'go away'.

And which one are they going after??!!

___________
There are other players, stronger and perhaps even more evil ones than the FBI. Roberts’ children are adults. There may be more on him than a hinky adoption.

Besides, it isn’t even certain whether POTUS can regain effective control of FBI. We don’t know for certain who is pulling what strings. For all we know, every single adversary truly believes they are on the side of the angels.

The major revenue streams of many powerful people are at risk. That money comes from the citizens of every nation. Even knowing who they are doesn’t stop them. They have been signaling a world-wide crash for months now. I used to discount that sort of talk as just goldbugs trying to ramp up the value of their favorite asset. Now, I don’t know.

None of us really know anything.
