Democratic members of Congress on Wednesday sued President Trump in federal court, claiming he had violated the emoluments clause of the Constitution by accepting foreign funds through the Trump business without Congressional approval.
The Washington Post broke the news early Wednesday morning, reporting that 196 lawmakers had joined the complaint, more than any lawmakers ever to sign on to sue a president.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) led the filing in federal district court, and said Tuesday that while no Republicans had joined the lawsuit, they were welcome to do so.
Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) led the legal effort in the House.
"Trump has conflicts of interest in at least 25 countries, and it appears hes using his presidency to maximize his profits," Coyers told Reuters Wednesday.

And Hillary still walks free.
I don’t know what the holdup is on her incarceration. Seems to me to be the prudent thing to do. It was a campaign promise after all.
More definition on just who is allowed to be President in our time. Ridiculous.
Luckily, Trump, has far more resources at his disposal that your average President (Democrat or Republican). If this tactic is to distract and financially harm the President, in the case of Trump, frivolous lawsuits are nothing new, being a billionaire and celebrity he has been fighting them for decades. He literally has office buildings full of $500 an hour Manhattan attorneys on his payroll who's only job is to quash lawsuits such as these.
The Russia BS is faulting now on to the next bullshit “scandal”.
Let the judge shopping begin.
Emolument means payments for an office. Payments received in sales and rentals have never been considered to be emoluments. As to whether the Saudis paid Trump $1.5 million for one room for one night, akin to the Russians paying Bill Clinton $1.5 million for a speech in Moscow when his wife was Secretary of State, would be suspicious. But, the amount paid by the Saudis for accommodations at Trump’s magnificent Old Post Office Hotel in Washington DC is comparable to the tabs run up by US delegations attending international gatherings in other countries.

Communist-leaning Democrat members of Congress on Wednesday made another frivolous suit against President Trump.
Another rat trap using the so-called judiciary of the left to loot property, rights, and defamation to destroy ALL of our freedoms. Find the right crook in a blackrobe and President Trump will suffer. Regardless, the crooked legal system and lawyers will line their pockets.
Probably taxpayer funded too. The judges are. Makework for them, I suppose.
I bet Trump gives this attack about one minute of his time. When he is done laughing, he'll tweet something about jobs, Obamacare, national defense, or immigration.
Of course, this frivolus spending is done at DEM Congressional initiative. And the lawyers love it. Cottage industry. Make a million bucks.
Odds are they get a Democratic judge. 80-90% of them are.
So what does the emoluments clause say about taking money from foreign governments for your own Foundation and doing favors for those donors while serving as Sec. of State?
Isn’t Conyers wife in jail for bribery?
Stupid.
They know they are numerically screwed for the next decade so, they will become litigious litigants to undermine the next couple of presidents.
How many federal judges strung up on lamp posts woult it take for the rest to understand things have changed?
( crickets)
Unelected officials in black robes, steadily stealing power from Congress and the Excutive....
Obama disabled credit card verification in his campaign donations for this very reason. Time to start applying the law on democrats. Hard to run a “resistance “ doing hard time.
Better than CWII.
. . . notwithstanding that she solicited donations from foreign governments while Secretary of State. Donations to the Clinton Foundation to which she also illegally forwarded classified information.
