Propane refrigerators are incredibly common in campers and RVs for many decades.

Propane refrigerators are still available for off grid. Propane is the fuel. Their "green" units use propane as the refrigerant. This is to "save" the ozone layer. Mixing electricity with compressed propane is a bad idea. This is one reason we don't use propane as a refrigerant in the US.

Yes, I realize that now. I just remembered it wrong.

However, we have had propane as a refrigerant available since 2015 in the US.
