Who are you to tell me to back off of my replies to another FReeper? I was courteous enough to ping you with my reply because you had made mention of items up the thread, and now you are attacking me. So maybe it is you that should BACK OFF!

Joanne Newman/Elizabeth Duke is not African American...so where did you get that she was at black paper. She lived in NYC, not Dallas...

Elizabeth Duke NEVER went by the name of "Joanne Newman"! She was born in November 25, 1940 in Beeville, Texas to Laura Kathleen Curry and Howard Russell Weir. She married Jimmy Dan Duke on June 29, 1962 and they had two children, Cheryl Rae Duke, born on February 5, 1963 and Russell Bailey Duke born on September 1, 1964, in Dallas, Texas. She and her husband divorced six years later in Dallas on August 28, 1970.

So the fact is, INDEED she was not living anywhere near New York City in the 1960s.

If you bothered to look at the clipping from the Amsterdam News, it was written by a woman who went by the name of Miss Jo Ann Newman, who they say worked at that same African-American newspaper in 1965:

I never mentioned anything whatsoever about Angela Davis! So what is your point? What does she have to do with Jo Ann Newman?

Looking back to post 129, you claim, "Joanne Newsman was Malcolm X white girlfriend in NYC, with his wife/family 5 or 6 blocks away according research/claims.", with your source being an article in Time magazine, which makes absolutely no mention of your claims!

My comment:
Bucks County, PA is only 80 miles from NYC. What does a husband have to do with Elizabeth Anna Duke’s travels and possible pregnancy? Most of Malcolm X activity during that time centered around NYC, when they lived there.

I know from that era just how many hippies lived together, transitioned from one place to another, and protested, also slept together during sexual revolution...so what is the point of Texas, she was born there, doesn’t mean she stayed there or stayed married. You can’t take children as a fugitive on the run! Maybe why Malcolm X love child could have ended up in foster care!

I lived up North for many years, and was born in South too. the 60s was a chaotic time w Black Panthers.

My answer:
1. Sure she was listed on FBI wanted poster as having been born in TX in 1940.

She could have married and had two children in TX, then left. the fact she divorced in 1970 is irrelevant, as many people separate... and do not divorce for years, if ever. Where did you get the info on birth of children and name of husband? That info may be in public records, but did you actually see those records? Could there be two Elizabeth Duke’s in TX?

Elizabeth Anna Duke was known to be traveling in North and Canada per FBI. She could have left anytime from TX to go to NYC, or Bucks County, Pa: Philadelphia area, where she was arrested, then became a fugitive.
