As I recall, the same thing was said of selling a car for $8,000.00 about 40 years ago.
That said, the price you quoted is for loaded trucks. More basic trucks list for much less, and I'm seeing big trucks discounted about 8-9 thousand dollars around here. If you're in the market, now might be a good time.
Been jonesing for a pickup truck so I just went to my local Ford dealer’s web site. Put in New, F-150, and told it to sort by price.
The cheapest has these specs:

They want $28,700 for it. $5740 down and with 2.99% APR your payments are only $366 per month for 72 months.
Living in New Mexico I need 4 wheel drive, so the cheapest they have of that is: $33,345.00
As basic as the other one, only with 4 wheel drive.
