Ossoff Leads Handel in Most Expensive House Race: Poll
NBC ^ | June 9, 2017 | Alex Seitz-Wald

Democrat Jon Ossoff pulled ahead of Republican Karen Handel in the latest poll of a closely-watched Georgia special congressional election after he reported raking in an unprecedented $15 million over the past two months.

But operatives in both parties tracking the race say it has likely changed less than the new Atlanta Journal Constitution poll suggests, and say they still expect a photo finish on June 20.

Polling is tricky in special elections, when turnout is unpredictable. And after months of intense campaigning and airwaves saturated with ads, voters' opinions are largely set in place.

An advertising arms race between both parties has pushed spending the race north of $35 million, making it the most expensive House race in history as local TV stations add broadcasts to their programming in order to keep up with demand for more room for ads.

Early voting started last week in the race to fill the seat vacated by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, which has become a national battleground over President Donald Trump and his healthcare plan.

Ossoff and Handel have been locked in more or less a dead heat since the first round of voting in April. But with Trump's national approval rating falling to new lows, Handel has tumbled a bit locally in the north Atlanta suburbs that make up Georgia's Sixth Congressional District.

The biggest change came in a new Atlanta Journal Constitution poll of likely voters, which found Ossoff leading Handel 51 percent to 44 percent in a district that has long been a conservative stronghold. Crucially, the poll showed Ossoff chipping off 13 percent of Republican voters and winning half of independents.

Pray for rain in Georgia on election day. His base won’t come out in the rain.

Tomorrow I will be making another donation to the Handel campaign. I will be doing what I can to see that she wins.

He won’t win otherwise MSM would b droning on and on about pending GOP defeat becoming the tipping point where Libs will take over and they r not. It became a non story after the first round.

They will harp on margin of victory. Meaning Dems were blown out and that is good. But they did not win

When the Patriots beat the Jets by only 4 points, is that a win for the Jets? I don’t think so. A win goes toward home field advantage

First of all, I didn’t fail to mention it. I said Republicans got elected, and Obamacare played a large role in that. Explain to me, then, why the ACHA is so unpopular. Find me a poll which shows the GOP healthcare plan with a higher popularity than Obamacare. Why is that? It’s because the bill has not been sufficiently promoted, and the media has claimed the narrative. Why allow? Where is the promotion of this bill? Why aren’t they out there showing the affects of Obamacare? Trump has met with people who had a negative experience with it, but the media isn’t reporting it. They need to do more to get that out there. They need to do more to show the high premiums, deductibles, and effects on small business. The GOP has done squat to promote it too.

I’m not the only person calling out Trump’s communications staff. Mike Cernovich has multiple times. Multiple articles have been written saying that Trump is frustrated with his staff not defending him. Dubke is out. Spicer has been shifted away from daily press conferences and interchanged with Huckabee-Sanders.

Trump has so many great ideas and an ability to change a narrative. It’s time to promote those ideas, ignore the Russia nonsense, and reclaim the narrative. There is no reason for his approval ratings to be so low. A different strategy to promote Trump and bypass take on the media can only help.

I’m curious; how does someone in Ohio presume to know more about us here in the Georgia Sixth, than those of us that live here?

No, it’s most certainly not. I like Trump, but I think their strategy to promote him and take on the media is lacking.

I wrote a whole article on this:

Mike Cernovich did a whole article as well:

What did I claim to know? I posted a poll taken by a paper in Georgia. I don’t know who will win - I just said I wouldn’t be shocked if he did.

I live in this district. I get at least 5 calls a day from pollsters. I already voted for Handel. I refuse to take these silly push polls and I either hang up, ignore the call or take the phone off the hook. It’s the same old reason polls are bad - republicans don’t like to participate.

They play one ossoff ad, continually... and I don’t hear many played by Handel... the left has the money to do this. That one they play continually says ossoff is good and handel used money for her own luxuries.. (paraphrased by me) We know if they play the dirt often enough, the people believe it. Her ad, when it’s played, goes after the fact he doesn’t even live in the district and he would be voting the same as pelosi. Handel needed more ads and doing a better job on who he is... but not sure how conservative she is.. I do not know her and do not live in her district. I just know anyone would be better than a young liberal democrat who has not had to work for a living.. a spoiled pajama boy indeed!

This is horse pucky. Sean Spicer is doing a great job and is talking up some add’l duties because there is no Communication director yet, Sarah has been covering occasionally all along. Trump’s enemies are rotating hits on Trump’s team to try and sow discord and derail the Trump train. They don’t need any help from pearl clutching Trump supporters.

You are relying on the polls and the MSM for your pulse taking on the ACA bill. That is not a valid barometer. The ACA is a very mixed bag but it is just a station on the way. It has to be wishy washy to get enough votes. Then Pruit, Trump & the rest of the cabinet will knock things into shape.

Trump should have picked outside people less expensive and less risky. That is why we picked an outsider. There is so many better people out there that are not politicians.

Cernovich has kind of gone overboard after he got his big “break” on 60 minutes.

The fact is, as I’ve written many times, the media “team” is almost irrelevant, because the message itself, almost daily, is a distraction and diversion. I’m convinced Bannon & Trump nightly come up with 2-3 tweets for the next day that may have SOME bit of real policy news in them or are total nothingness (”covefe”). This is all by design, to force the fake news to cover nonsense while they get stuff done.

Up until about 2-3 days ago, it was just a hypothesis, but then a writer at the Huff Po began warning their readers about exactly that, and I knew there was something to it.

I would be concerned if it was a more believable 3 point spread. 7 points? Nope not believable.
