Trump ‘Obligated’ to Prosecute if He Believes Comey Lied Under Oath

Dan Abrams Discusses Whether Trump Should Prosecute Comey For Perjury

Former FBI Director James Comey gave testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee that discussed encounters that he had with President Donald Trump that raised some flags in his mind. Among them was a conversation where the President brought up the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, where Trump allegedly expressed a desire for Comey to let Flynn go. Another was a discussion where Trump allegedly told Comey that he needs and expects loyalty. Trump and his representatives have denied that he said such things, essentially saying that Comey lied under oath.

LawNewz.com founder Dan Abrams addressed this matter during ABC News’ coverage of the hearing. “If he’s lying, you can charge him with perjury,” Abrams said. “If the position of the President is that James Comey is telling lies to the American public, making up stories about conversations they had, and swearing in front of Congress that he’s gonna tell the truth, then I think that they are obligated to prosecute.”

Indeed, unless Trump’s side of the story is false, there would be a strong perjury case against Comey. Of course, Abrams was skeptical that the Trump administration would follow through on any such measures. “Don’t count on that happening,” he said.

Ironic that Trump was trying to get Comey to investigate
White House and intelligence leaks a few months ago and Comey turned him down because he was too busy leaking from the FBI. Very rarely is one successful in getting the fox to investigate leaks in the henhouse

“I think it would be up to Attorney General Sessions to prosecute...The president is not a prosecutor...”

That is how I see it. By the way what else has Comey leaked?

Ironic that Trump was trying to get Comey to have the FBI open an investigation into intelligence and investigatory leaks a few months ago and Comey turned him down apparently because he was too busy leaking from the FBI. Very rarely is one successful in getting the fox to investigate leaks in the henhouse

No worries. Sessions wil do nothing. Comey will skate. Just like Holder, Rice, The Beast, et al.

Apparently Dan Abrams, who used to be a good commentator, has forgotten his basic federal law and who can “prosecute” a charged suspect.

Next Abrams will say that “Impeachment” is an attack on fruit.

#18. Shhhh! Re Maxine Waters not being “herd” from. Don’t wake the sleeping beastie. The sane world will be a better place for it.

On second thought, now that Headhunter Kathy Griffin is gone, the Left will need a new comedian to take her place, and believe me, Maxine Waters is the funniest leftist puke I’ve seen and heard in a long time.

Her wig it tighter than the one worn by Red Foxx’s nemesis Aunt Esther in “Sanford and Son”.

She makes “Minny Pearl” sound like an opera singer and Charles Manson sound like he is sane.

And for the Guinness Book of Records, she has lips that can suck the skin off a 10 pound Zucchini in record time.
(Warning: Don’t try this stunt at home. Only a true professional Zucchini-sucker can do it safely).

It's not a "nit-pick", it's the part that frustrates me the most.

Well that's the elephant in the room, isn't it.

Democrats conflating again. Statements made to the President are not necessarily under oath. It’s pretty clear that Comey did tell the President that he could expect Comey to be truthful and then by his own statements Comey was neither forthcoming or truthful. That is clear grounds for dismissal and probably public humiliation. What Abrams is trying to do is to say on one hand that President Trump has no business saying who should be prosecuted, but if he fails to order the prosecution of Comey, he is admitting Comey is right?

Wasn’t it Trafficante of the Tampa mob who was quoted as saying of the Kennedys that if you cut the tail (Bobby) off of a dog the head (Jack) will bite you. But if you cut the head off the tail stops wagging.

Yesterday Comey clearly flagged himself as a wagging tail. Here’s hoping they don’t try to take out Trump in order to make the can of worms that Comey opened go away.

The ‘Rats have for decades taken calculated advantage of the ill-considered notion of new administration collegiality (as exemplified in the extreme by GWB) to get away with murder. Because of the moral hazard in this concept each ‘Rat admin has been more corrupt and criminal than the one before. It must stop. The crimes of outgoing administrations must be investigated and prosecuted.

I would even advocate for a Constitutional amendment to the effect that the legislatures of the several States each designate one member of a Super Grand Jury to be empaneled whenever there is a change of President and whose sole task is to review the conduct of the prior administration.
