No, I agree that Comey’s words can be interpreted as saying Trump ordered him to call off the Flynn investigation, although I do think other things he said clearly indicate the opposite (so the press was being very selective and partisan in how they are choosing to report this in a one-sided way).
The actual part I was responding to in my first response to you here (post #91) was your claim that CBS was telling the truth when it claimed Trump “ordered Comey to publicly clear him of wrong doing.” You said CBS was telling the truth here because: “According to Comey, Trump said he was considering ordering Comey to undertake an investigation of Trump, in order to clear Trump.”
This strikes me as proof that CBS lied and distorted what Comey said to make Trump look criminal (he wanted a further investigation, while they claimed he just wanted to be declared innocent), not as proof the “press” told the truth as you claimed. What you wrote just seemed like a heck of a reinterpretation of the message CBS was trying to get out. It seemed to exonerate CBS from their manipulation of what Comey said, when they were clearly trying maximize damage against Trump through their heavily misleading spin.
I never made that claim. My claim was that CBS was telling the truth when it reported that COMEY SAID Trump gave Comey a direct order.
Again, that is not exactly Comey's words, but it is exactly Comey's testimony. Comey testified that in his mind (and that counts, becuase he is the one carrying out the order), Trump gave a direct order to stop the Flynn investigation.
