“It’s interesting how all of these countries moved at the same time to cut relations with Qatar.”

It sure is. Maybe Qatar was burning the candle at both ends so to speak.

This is an indication that the Saudis may well be serious about cutting off funding to jihadis (which they signed an agreement to do when Trump visited).

In addition to the Saudis, Egyptians and Bahrain cutting ties with Qatar, the body of the article reports that the UAE did as well - all today. The UAE only gave Qatari diplomats 48 hours to clear the country.

Saudi Arabia is Qatar’s only link by land, and the UAE is it’s closest neighbor by sea (which includes Dubai, the main economic and cultural hub of the region).

There is a lot of business that takes place (and family ties) between Qataris, Saudis and Emiratis. This is a big move in the region.

Trump has done the impossible and made the Gulf States become reliable allies. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and even Qatar all signed a communique earlier this month around the time that the arms package was approved condemning terror and promising to go after private individuals who are funding terror. Aside from the madrasas, the biggest issue in the Gulf is that most people who sponsor terror are privately wealthy people.

Qatar has been waffling on that commitment since. Meanwhile, we’ve got folks like Prince Bandar (aka Bandar Bush) in Saudi Arabia and Prince Mohammed bin Zayed in the UAE that are getting serious about reform, on top of people we already know like el-Sisi in Egypt.

So what is the end game here? I am missing it and am surprised how this happened so quick. Normally, this would be a prelude to war, but the Saudi can’t fight their way out of a paper bag. Attacking Yemen was a disaster politically and militarily.

“All the nations also said they planned to cut air and sea traffic to the peninsular country.” (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/M/ML_QATAR?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2017-06-04-23-36-52)

“The decision comes after Qatar alleged in late May that hackers took over the site of its state-run news agency and published what it called fake comments from its ruling emir about Iran and Israel. Its Gulf Arab neighbors responded with anger, blocking Qatari-based media, including the Doha-based satellite news network Al-Jazeera.” (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jun/05/saudi-arabia-and-bahrain-break-diplomatic-ties-with-qatar-over-terrorism)

All four countries cited Qatari support to terrorists among their reasons.

“So what is the end game here?”

In my opinion, it is a strike against the main source of funding for a lot of the Sunni jihadis and subversives which currently plague the world (including ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood, and al Queda). Trump had them sign a commitment to do that during his visit to Saudi Arabia.

If it (Trump) is successful, the level of terrorist attacks will collapse over the next year or two, as the main organizations shut down or contract dramatically.

If the Gulf Arabs reform their Wahabbi religious doctrines and stop teaching this hatred as well, the problem would be fundamentally uprooted - they are the source of the whole movement.

If that were accomplished, Trump would deserve a Nobel Peace Prize, like only one in a generation do (not that the leftist Euroweenie Nobel Committee is likely to ever admit it).

Bottom Line: This big move by the Gulf Arabs is far beyond the kind of assurances (lies) that they have given past administrations - it is a new ball game. Something big seems to be happening.

There does not seem much unity among Arab nations. How will all this affect Trump’s speech in Riyadh? BTW, we still have not received an official response from the Saudi king on DJT’s speech.

Just read in AlJezeera (owned by Qatar) that its not just diplomats - all Qatari citizens must leave those countries within two weeks.

No more partying or shopping in Dubai, no Hajj in Mecca. A lot of Qataris who own property or run businesses will be hard hit, as will many families.

This is some serious hardball.

Yep, we put major military headquarters in Qatar. Central Command (CENTCOM) Forward was based there, at al Udeid Air Base.

That base is still a huge American asset in the region.

They have been double dealing (which has long been common over there) - buying us off on hand, while funding our enemies on the other hand.
