Environmental studies don't support Trump's 'cleanest' claim
ABC News ^ | Jun 3, 2017 | seth borenstein

President Donald Trump said the United States "will continue to be the cleanest and most environmentally friendly country on Earth" as he announced a U.S. pullout from an international accord designed to curb climate change.

But facts muddy that claim.

Data show that the U.S. is among the dirtiest countries when it comes to heat-trapping carbon pollution. One nation that has cleaner air in nearly every way is Sweden.

Carbon dioxide isn’t pollution, it is plant food.

Sweden cannot be compared to the IS. It cannot even be compared to many of the states. Compare it to Wyoming, Mo tana, u would have a better comparison.

Sweden is about the size of new jersey.

Their comparison is apples to oranges. Break the pollution down per kilometer avg, or per capita average to get a better breakdown.

Dear ABC, the Paris Climate Accord is not about pollution:

“One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole,” said Edenhofer, who co-chaired the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group on Mitigation of Climate Change from 2008 to 2015.

So what is the goal of environmental policy?

“We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy,” said Edenhofer.

"Data show that the U.S. is among the dirtiest countries when it comes to heat-trapping carbon pollution."

Nonsense. Data show that CO2 is not a pollutant. It's an atmospheric enrichment.

For a greener Planet!

I’m sure China is the cleanest.

Indeed! The USA has led the world in making our air cleaner. We have done more than any other country in this respect.

“What ever a petard is.”

A petard was a bomb with a nail on the casing, which was used to blow open fortress gates. The attacker’s pioneers would carry it to the gate, stick the nail in the wood of the door, light the fuse and run for their lives. Many times, they would be killed by the explosion of their own bomb, hence “hoist on their own petard.”

CO2 is not dirty. It may be a greenhouse gas. But it’s not dirty. ABC is wrong to project its PC talk onto Trump. Trump is correct and ABC is fake.

We have had a measure of air quality - AQI - for some time. It is based on sulphur dioxide, particulate matter, and a few other measurements. These things constitute pollution and, hence, are dirty.

The long-term trend in the U.S. is very positive. That is, the number of days of a low level of air quality has been falling. There was a spike, but that was due to volcanic activity.

Based on this kind of measure, we do have one of the lower level of pollution in the world, and our air quality has been getting better.

Yeah, America is the problem here. Ahem.

And under the Paris Agreement, China was allowed to increase their emissions by 34% to peak in 2030... but 34% of their emissions is equal to the outer of ALL OF THE EU today. China gets to add that much, while everyone else must cut back. Yeah, great plan, and certainly with the environment's best interests in mind. Ahem.

Carbon is not a pollution. We’re made of carbon, idiots.

We are made of carbon.

Carbon is pollution.

Please report to the nearest Carbon Sequestration Camp for elimination.

That’s called “proper disposal”. “Elimination” doesn’t sound as nice.

I always like to say that, far from being a pollutant, carbon dioxide is the primary food source on the planet.

What an incredibly stupid and vacuous article... hard to imagine that even the most ardent over-the-top supporter of all things glowbull would have allowed such a bereft piece of a$$wipe to leave the editing room. Does he really think that everyone who might potentially read this has the comprehension of a kindergarten dropout?

When I saw the words “carbon pollution”,I knew this was phoney. Fake news pollution is more of a problem than carbon will likely ever be.
