The European Union is in “existential danger” because of “dysfunctional” institutions, a persistent austerity policy and outdated treaties, American billionaire George Soros warned in Brussels on Thursday (1 June).
The Hungarian-born philanthropist, who was speaking at the Brussels Economic Forum, said the EU should use the Brexit negotiations to introduce far-reaching reforms and be “radically reinvented”, otherwise it risks ceasing to exist.
”If the European Union carries on with business as usual, there is little hope for an improvement,” he said, adding that the bloc was surrounded by “hostile powers”, such as Russia, Turkey, Egypt, and, possibly US president Donald Trump’s administration.
Soros said that he was encouraged by the “energetic way” EU institutions have responded to the autocratic challenges emerging from Hungary and Poland, which have come under a European Commission probe over rule of law concerns. …

He apparently holds dual citizenship in the USA and Hungary. Since the USA does not allow that, the US citizenship has to be invalid. So this conundrum seems to qualify him as a “US billionaire” per the EU rhetoric.

He hasn’t sabotaged the euro yet, so he knows where he’s safe. A lot of his actions have benefited the euro indirectly.

The US most certainly ‘allows’ dual citizenship. plenty of high federal officials have dual citizenship, you can hold dual citizenship and have the highest security clearances possible

There's an "existential threat" all right, and it's something besides Europe that's threatened.
In general, the USA allows dual citizenship; it just does not encourage it. most laws against it were struck down by the SCOTUS in the 1960s.
Regarding Soros in particular, when he was naturalized he would have had to renounce his prior citizenship, so if he is claiming dual citizenship, that would be a violation of his oath taken at that time, and that could be a basis for stripping him of his US citizenship. I have not heard that he was claiming any other citizenship, however.

I hate the idea of dual citizenship and think it should only be allowed in the case of children who have parents of two different nationalities. upon reaching the age of 21 the child has a choice denounce one of the citizenships....I also think that if there are adult dual citizenships those who have not denounced the nonamerican citizenship should not be allowed to hold political office.
