PARIS FALLOUT: Trump Wanted To Stick It To ‘Holier-Than-Thou’ Jet-Setting Elites
Daily Caller ^ | 6/2/17 | Michael Bastach

Posted on 06/02/2017 6:15:06 AM PDT by markomalley

President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord was, in part, motivated by his resentment for elitist hypocrites who ride around in private jets and SUVs while warning about global warming.

“This is religion for the political left, and our supporters are constantly being asked to change their behavior,” a top White House official told Axios, who added that “snarky comments” from European leaders also encouraged Trump to withdraw.

The White House official said “Trump resented the corporate critics who ‘ride in fossil-fuel-guzzling planes and SUVs, then act holier-than-thou,'” according to Axios.

Trump announced he would withdraw the U.S. from the Paris agreement, which the Obama administration joined in 2016 after years of negotiating with United Nations member countries. Some 147 countries have ratified the Paris agreement.

Trump said the Paris agreement was poorly negotiated and would harm the U.S. economy. Trump said the deal transferred wealth from the U.S. to economic rivals, like China and India.

“I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris,” Trump said.

The liberal hypocrites Trump railed against in private were among the most distraught with his decision to withdraw from the Paris accord.

Former Vice President Al Gore, for example, bashed Trump’s decision and said he would recut the end of his second global warming film. Gore regularly flies private jets and is escorted to events in SUVs with a full security detail.

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio criticized Trump’s decision to withdraw from Paris. DiCaprio has himself been heavily criticized for warning about global warming while riding in private jets and renting mega-yachts for parties.

Trump promised to “cancel” the Paris agreement on the campaign trail, but his own administration was split on the issue. Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson were among those who favored staying in the Paris agreement.

White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt favored exit and had been working behind the scenes for months to hold Trump to his campaign promise.

The Trump administration will begin the process of withdrawing from the Paris agreement, which will take at least until November 2019. The agreement doesn’t allow signatories to pull out for three years after it goes into force.

According to Pres. Trump’s speech yesterday, the author is wrong about it taking until Nov. 2019 to withdraw. . .

“Thus, as of today [June 1, 2017], the United States will cease all implementation of the nonbinding Paris accord and the draconian financial and economic burdens the agreement imposes on our country.

This includes ending the implementation of the nationally determined contribution and, very importantly, the Green Climate Fund, which is costing the United States a vast fortune.”

I think they wanted and expect the US to cough up its share of a reported $100 BILLION per year to be paid by “rich countries” to “Climate projects” in the 3rd world

Ol Elon Musk and thousands of other climate slush fund trough sniffers probably had “projects” like electric cars for Somalia, windmills for South Africa and tree planting in Vietnam ready to roll once they got their climate funds

Right.

There’s a legal argument.

If the Paris Accord is merely implementation of the 1992 Climate Change Convention (ratified by the US Senate), then a year is required. Pres. Trump argued that the Paris Accord was a new agreement signed but never in effect for the US without ratification.

Might have to be decided by the SC.

Trump could announce this week that those funds will instead be used to help create jobs that reduce US homelessness, such as in LA which is up by over 20%, and for military and veterans healthcare

If it was never ratified, then it’s not binding on us.

Shep Smith loved it. He also blathered on about how man-made global warming is real... Blah blah blah...

It is nothing to do with climate— it is only about taking American dollars. If the claim is that we are due three years of commitment ($$), tell them that there is only one check being cut and they and the UN have to figure out whose name goes on it because we’re only going to fleeced by one of them. And we’ll deal with that one in the (hopefully) near future. The UN makes NATO look efficient.

Yes. A billionaire has become a populist.

Some very wealthy people, especially those who have tried and failed and tried again, who have succeeded and suffered both, want to give rather than take.

President Trump seems to be one, who recognizes the fact that America the Unique gave him his success, not the America the Socialist, Globalists, Corporatist elite were trying to fashion. Nope. America the nation under God America.

Long live the American Constitution as envisioned by our Founding Fathers.

Viva Trump!

I'm not so sure about that. It's no coincidence that he made his real estate fortune in a Marxist stronghold like New York City.

Marxist stronghold perhaps. But in an America with vestiges of the greater generations still around.

And his activities have roamed far from N.Y.City.

Not to mention the global elites will lose millions in planned future green investments.

Millions? Probably Billions!

I saw Trump's speech he said it would cost us (US) 100 Billion climbing to 400 BILLION a YEAR! With NO explanation where the money is Going!

“The agreement doesn’t allow signatories to pull out for three years after it goes into force.”

Boolshite. Signing has no binding effect until ratified by Senate, which it has not been.

We are not “signatories” to any treaties that have not been ratified by our Congress. Maybe Barack Obama is the signatory and they can hold HIM to the agreement, personally.
