California Ready for Single-Payer Insurance … But Who’s Going to Pay for It?
Breitbart ^ | 05/27/2017 | Samuel Chi

In California, after the state robs the taxpayers of their last pennies, apparently more money just falls out of the sky. That must be the conclusion reached by a California state senate committee that passed a $400 billion universal healthcare proposal Thursday with no funding plan. Yes, that’s 400 billion with a B, which is more than twice the annual budget for the entire state.

Sen. Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) introduced SB 562, which calls for a sweeping overhaul of the state’s health insurance market. His committee passed the bill with a 5-2 vote, clearing the way for it to be taken up on the Senate floor next week. But Lara has yet to reveal a plan about how the state would come up with the money to provide health care to California’s nearly 40 million residents, including illegal immigrants.

But in California, who cares about funding mechanisms? There’s still that $68 billion “bullet train” out there going nowhere. The state doubled down on increasing services for illegals after President Donald Trump pledged to tighten the nation’s borders. And just last month, the state legislature decided to levy even more taxes on gasoline purchases, as Californians will be paying $1 in taxes for every gallon of gas.

{..snip..}

That’s the beauty of our Federal Reserve system - we have a completely unbacked, fiat currency, which can be printed at will, with manipulated interest rates, and a central bank that can buy up any amount of government debt.

decades of this has taught progressive-left politicians they can have anything they want.

Or as Jay Leno would say, “Spend all you want, we’ll make more.”

Sounds like a great plan. All the freeloaders and overly sick people will move to californacate improving the quality of life in the other states.

They can stop and poop in Denver on their way west.

Didn’t say that. But I just posted what happened when Californians tried to stop homosexual “marriage” by voting for a law against it, and when that vote was overturned by a judge, went on to overwhelmingly pass a state constitutional amendment and that too was overturned by a (homosexual) judge. By that time, the state government was firmly in Democrats’ hands and the governor and attorney general refused to appeal the ruling.

Don’t see California’s political situation changing for the better anytime soon. The fact that the senate committee voted out a $400,000,000 program (on a party-line vote, I believe) without any idea of where to get that kind of money says it all. But, hey, it’s free health care for everyone!

Yes, your summary is accurate.

These long-eared donkeys in Sacramento will screw-up.

The judges are mostly Demoncrats and supporters of evil.

Welcome to California. :)

You are missing three zeros! it’s not $400 million, it’s $400 billion!

Single Payer means only Democrats pay.

By definition, Single Payer is not you. Only one payer exists, and it is not you. You get a big tax cut.

The same suckers who have been paying for Obamacare, Medicaid, and the exploding army of fraudulent "permanent" disability stolen from Social Security: taxpayers with a productive non-government job who can't claim "earned income credits," child care, and 19 dependents.
