Part of the problem is that how many conservatives actually want to do the job? Conservatives, by nature, have a disdain for government, whereas to liberals, government is the “be all, end all” of their existence.

You pretty much nailed it. Only Dem’s and RINOs, willingly, want to be part of that culture and climate. They’re the ones that want those government jobs, that they can have for life, working in the shadows. Going to all the “cool spots” in DC and bragging about their positions to others like them. They’re the ones that keep the bubble around DC, intact and out of touch.

Normal, hard working people, want no part of that. That is what is going to make draining the swamp, very difficult.

That is why careers in government should be nearly impossible. Term limit everyone, with a lifetime limit for years in government "service". Make it a temporary position in which they truly SERVE. Don't allow them to RULE!

We have the communications structure in the US now to breakup Washington DC and scatter government operations throughout the United States.

General Electric packed its bags and moved from Connecticut to Boston. It’s an effective way to get rid of deadwood and make serious staff changes.

Yeah, I know that’s an issue for me at the local level. Our town council is always filled with people that like to meddle in other people’s business, make new rules, ordinances, etc.

None of my friends ever attend town hall meetings but when we complain there is always the annoying question: “if you don’t like it then why don’t you get involved, or run for office?”

My answer is always - screw that - for one thing I’d never get elected because my campaign platform would be to dissolve town council and stop meddling in other people’s business.

Besides, I’d have to work with all the people I can’t stand.

I assume it’s even worse with the Feds. Same with journalists - it’s all people who want to run other people’s lives.
