>I can only assume that most Rs in Congress are blackmailed up to the eyeballs. Otherwise, why would they just accept this submissively?<

The thread just above yours says “Executive”. This would be the President. I am surprised President Trump doesn’t boot them as soon as possible.

Of course, if he did now, the press would go even more insane.

Yeah, I know that’s an issue for me at the local level. Our town council is always filled with people that like to meddle in other people’s business, make new rules, ordinances, etc.

None of my friends ever attend town hall meetings but when we complain there is always the annoying question: “if you don’t like it then why don’t you get involved, or run for office?”

My answer is always - screw that - for one thing I’d never get elected because my campaign platform would be to dissolve town council and stop meddling in other people’s business.

Besides, I’d have to work with all the people I can’t stand.

I assume it’s even worse with the Feds. Same with journalists - it’s all people who want to run other people’s lives.

This needs to be addressed while we still have at least a nominal majority. I suspect that there are scores of young Republicans being graduated each year, who would be willing to work on Committee staffs for half of what these Democrats are making--and their skills at doing research on subjects would be every bit as well honed, after surviving undergraduate college and remaining Republican.

And even some of those who might be as intellectually lost as Senator McCain, might learn on the job to move to the Right. (Leftwing politics & "moderate" Republican politics are both hopelessly flawed; but one surviving College to even identify as a "moderate" Republican might be still capable of learning.)

The Obama/Clinton crowds have pulled out the stops. We have no alternative but to play hardball. They will smear us in any event. Let's clean house, while we can.

Sadly, it is obvious, that the swamp is too big, and can not be drained. Only a nuclear bomb can do the job now.

Wrong example, and always has been. It’s not a swamp that we can drain. It’s a kid’s game (”Jingo?”) where you have to pull out these sticks without collapsing the whole structure.

If Trump went Wyatt Earp on the FBI, and all the departments, etc., he indeed would be impeached. But he can (as Kurt Russell did in “Tombstone”) pick them off one at a time or a couple at a time and replace them with loyalists, in a couple of years you can do broader measures.

For example, I think he still only has a handful of lawyers in Justice who are “his.” The rest either are Obama’s people or open positions that haven’t been filled.
