White House Considers Restructuring Communications Staff
CBS ^ | May 25, 2017

CBS News has confirmed from two sources that three leakers of classified information at the White House have been identified and are expected to be fired.

Officials within the Trump White House believe leaks of Mr. Trump's conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov are a "deliberate attempt" by officials who are holdovers from President Obama's administration and are trying to damage the Trump presidency.

Last week, the Trump campaign released an email to supporters entitled "SABOTAGE," in which the campaign said, "There are people within our own unelected bureaucracy that want to sabotage President Trump and our entire America First movement."

What? Why is there even a single one of them left? Come on Donald, it’s been more than 100 days. Fire them all, as of yesterday.

It’s time to stop screwing around. Line all the political appointees up and fire them en masse. Every last one.

What’s to lose? Good Trump-supporting people can be found to fill their jobs, the government will not grind to a halt until the jobs are filled again. It would set a precedent and send a message loud and clear. The left and the media (to be redundant) already hate Trump, it’s not like this would make things any worse.

I can’t understand why this has not been done already.

I think many people had assumed that one of Pres. Trumps first acts would be to fire the Obama disloyal holdovers. I’m not sure why this hasn’t been done, except for the fact there must be very many of them & it may take time. It needs to accomplished in full, though.

You realize that the White House staff consists of about 2,000 people? Most not at 1600 PA Ave, but next door are across the street in buildings surrounding Lafayette Park. That’s just the White House (doesn’t, btw, include SS or military aides).

Then each Department and Agency has several more thousands. It’s a huge job staffing up a new Administration. Leave aside the whole HR process, they have to get security clearances at various levels, and that takes time. You have to be more realistic about this.

I see your point, and I appreciate it. But Trump has been in office for not 10 days, but for 100+ days. The longer he takes to clean out those vipers, the more damage those vipers will do to him.

Eisenhower took Paris in less than 100 days after he landed in Normandy. Speed was a key then, and speed is a key now. In my humble opinion, of course.

“I’m not sure why this hasn’t been done”

Because party affiliation in and of its self is not a firing offense.

If Trump had just fired all of them they’d have challenged it in court and all still had jobs in 2316 when the case was finally settled.

No matter how deserving they may be of losing their jobs ethically there must be a legal reason

President Trump entered office without the support of the Republican Party and with the active opposition of the Democrat Party. He also had no experience running a large organization or dealing with a bureaucracy. It will take time for him to learn who he can trust and how to make the system work. He seems to have good instincts and is a quick study. It will take time, but I am confident he will get it done.

The only other president in modern times to enter office with neither their own party’s active support or a personal power base in Washington was President Carter. He was fought at every turn by the Kennedy machine and was never accepted as legitimate by the permanent government, the Washington social circle, or the media elite.

oh here are THOUSANDS of political appointment jobs, not civil service. There’s a thing called the “Plum Book” that lists all the desirable, upper level political appointment jobs. Lots at lower levels as well. That said, many of Obama’s political appointments below the level that requires Senate confirmation decided to switch over to permanent civil service so the govt will have them around for a good, long time ... they can be transferred, however, to jobs without any sensitivity ... but, again, that all takes time. 100 days isn’t that much for as enormous as job as our federal government.

There is a dire need for a census of the various species of Antarctic Penquins. Actually, I can think of a good reason to send thousands of Federal Employees to the Arctic circle to count Penguins. Just to make sure.

It is so frustrating that Obama holdovers are still there. Why have they not been replaced? I realize that bureaucrats who have been there for years and know the system are important, but, is there no way to get rid of the insurgents and still have an understanding of the system?

The “swamp” is the bureaucracy. If it is to be cleaned, you must begin there.
