McLEAN, Va. — A federal judge on Friday tossed out two life sentences for one of Virginia's most notorious criminals, sniper Lee Boyd Malvo, and ordered Virginia courts to hold new sentencing hearings.

In his ruling, U.S. District Judge Raymond Jackson in Norfolk said Malvo is entitled to new sentencing hearings after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that mandatory life sentences for juveniles are unconstitutional.

Malvo was 17 when he was arrested in 2002 for a series of shootings that killed 10 people and wounded three over a three-week span in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, causing widespread fear throughout the region.

His accomplice, John Allen Muhammad, was executed in 2009.

Just make them 10 consecutive 30-year sentences instead of life sentences...

Juvenile? Has one child that is known of....by the age of 18 some men are fathering, soldiering, or dealing....that age has little or no meaning anymore.

When the story broke out I had this very scary thought. What if this was intentional to do the bidding of the deep state or the swamp an arranged agreement with this killer who is void of any conscience to human lives and is extremely deranged ..A cooked up plea deal/hit on our president..ala FJK. I would not doubt anything anymore with these judges, the deep state and the entire swamp!!! How in the hell can someone release this killer unless there is something more sinister going on behind closed doors! No one in their right mind would release a murder of 10 innocent people go free and roam our streets and neighborhood of D.C. without a diabolical plan..i just have this very bad feeling about this killer!!

Sorry I meant to say re trial/sentence ...that only means one thing he will probably go free! His lawyers will demand a mistrial because of the charges laid on him when he was 17 years old! Looks like those liberal judges are pathetic!!

The exercise of stupid liberal judicial policies helped Trump win and will help re-elect him.

Give him 10 - 50 years sentences to be served consecutively.

If he lives that 500 years, then we’ll chip in for a one-way ticket to Mecca for him.

[His accomplice, John Allen Muhammad, was executed in 2009.]

I guess now he has learned that “allah” is actually Satan.

Just another example of the Judiciary working hard to keep you safe.

Just another example of the hard-working taxpayers’ money going down the tubes.

Americans are children up to 26 years of age. I believe this judge is very lenient when it come to black criminals. More and more of these clowns are being appointed.

As I understand it, the SC invalidated sentences of life without possibility of parole for criminals under the age of 18. If that’s the case, the judge is only following the law as it now stands. Doesn’t mean anyone is getting turned loose. Manson and Sirhan Sirhan have been getting parole hearings for years, (and this is in California!) and they’re still locked up.

He’s serving time on six convictions, but there are other homicides that he could still be tried for. This entire business is insane.

We need to lower the age to 16. Punks are always slipping through this 18-year-old loophole in the law. Heinous crimes are committed by 15 and 16 year old punks every day of the year.

Malvo should have been executed. He is one of those "youths/teens/youngsters" who had already matured mentally and physically by the age of 15 or 16.

Actually I'm sure Malvo is happy to be behind bars. His kind seem to thrive in that environment of violence, homosexuality, Islam, and illegal drugs.

Apparently this judge has a well known political agenda.

Here comes the judge! Here comes the judge!

So throw out the mandatory life sentence. Let the judge give him an arbitrary life sentence.

Barring that, give him 10-25 for each murder, consecutively

I suppose truncation of Malvo’s sentence is to be expected and accepted. Someone has to make sure that whatever number of years he is required to serve is longer than a de facto life term.

I remember reading books about the 2002 “DC sniper shootings” - which were actually nationwide shootings with purpose.

Lee Malvo under John’s supervision made some interesting drawings - google ‘em.

Unless his ideas have changed (of which proof is missing) he could become the new poster boy for subversive organizations.

If the day comes he’s released, BLOAT.
