Philippines troops backed by attack helicopters battle Islamist militants in besieged southern city

-excerpt-

Army tanks packed with soldiers rolled into the mainly Muslim Marawi City as gunfire and explosions rang out after militants linked to the Islamic State group torched buildings, seized more than a dozen Catholic hostages and raised the black flag of Isil.

The army sent about 100 soldiers, including US-trained special forces, to retake buildings and streets in the area held by militants of the Maute group, which has pledged allegiance to Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil).

Attack helicopters? That’s some nasty Islamophobia there.

The defeated Moros will soon leave the Phillipines and resurface as TSA screeners at San Francisco airport.

This is being reported in the Philippine newspapers.

The USA cancelled an agreement to sell arms to the Philippines because of Duterte’s extra-judicial killings of Drug dealers.

Duterte was royally p**sed by this because he needed the arms to fight the Islamists insurgents in the South. Hence, he decided to deal with China, and lately, Russia instead.

He was in Moscow for a 5 day visit, not only to discuss trade, but to discuss arms sales with Putin when on Day Number 3, this terrorist attack occurred in the city of Marawi.

He called Putin ( who was in Sochi ) and informed him about the situation and how he had to cut short his visit.

Putin actually FLEW from Sochi to Moscow to meet Duterte before he left.

It looks like the Philippine military will be using a lot of Kalishnikovs and Soviet planes and other military paraphernalia in the future.

I’d like to see President Trump lend a hand. If the Philippine Army is facing a terrorist stronghold, I would love to see a second MOAB save the lives of innocents.

RE: I would love to see a second MOAB save the lives of innocents

They have to find their hideout. as it stands now, the fighting is in the city of Marawi, which has a population the size of Richmond, Virginia.

The hold over Rats in the State Department will make up for any lack of watersport capability by issuing Refugee visas to the defeated ISIS groupies and then enlist NGOs to guide them on their way to the Promised Land where the hunting will be ridiculously easy.

Yup. Duterte could be the guy to show how it should be done.

Agreed. MOAB is not for the city, but it is perfect when those losers retreat to a terrorist “stronghold”, which is much less strong when hit by the right weapons.

They have killed dozens of terrorists.

And get this — among them are FOREIGN FIGHTERS from Indonesia, Malaysia and even the prosperous island of Singapore! ( go figure ).

Just have the military back out of the city and demand that ISIS release all prisoners or residents.

Once all the Muslims remain, then you drop a MOAB on it.

Are the “attack helicopters” from the US? If not, I hope they are MIL-24s from Ruskie land.
