Reporter says firsthand account misstated key aspect of Gianforte incident
A reporter who was a firsthand witness to an incident late Wednesday involving Montana GOP candidate Greg Gianforte and a reporter for the Guardian now admits she may have misstated some details of her initial story.
Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs claimed Gianforte, locked in a hotly contested special election for Congress, body-slammed him and broke his glasses at a campaign event Wednesday. Local authorities have brought misdemeanor assault charges against Gianforte.

The good news is that early voting probably pulled in most of the votes and the truth was revealed early. But we’ll see.

Gianforte was supposed to come on Fox for a live interview, but cancelled. Too bad. No matter what happened, this would have been his chance to put his own spin on public perception. Now, he is pushed further into defense mode.
If he did grab the reporter, he could have acknowledged this is not the right approach, and moved on, explaining what he meant by ‘like the last time’.
Explain to us in a clear and concise manner what reporter baggering can be like when you or your family are the targets.
I’m actually surprised he didn’t have a bodyguard or ‘handler’ ready to protect Gianforte’s personal space. You know how nuts the liberals have become since November.
According to this, Jacobs was the first one to lay hands on Greg. Greg only tried to grab the phone, not Jacobs. Jacobs responded by grabbing Greg's wrist, which is assault in my book.
