Story Highlights Nash Farm Battlefield and Museum in Henry County plans to close June 1. A Henry County commissioner requested that all Confederate flags be removed from the museum.
A Henry County commissioner requested a few months ago that a local Civil War museum remove its Confederate flags.
But without that symbol, the Nash Farm Battlefield and Museum announced that it cant conduct its mission properly and will close June 1.
In a Facebook post, the museums directors cited the request by District 2 Commissioner Dee Clemmons that all Confederate flags be removed from the museum, in addition to the gift shop, in an effort not to offend anyone.
To exclude any Confederate flag would mean the historical value has been taken from our exhibits, and a fair interpretation could not be presented to each guest, the post read. Confederate flags were on this hallowed ground, as were the Union flags. To remove either of them would be a dishonor.

“Or a Revolutionary War museum without any exhibits on Washington and Jefferson (slaveholders and utterly evil oppressors)?”........
The PC movement has gotten out of hand. It won’t be long before they want to remove the numerous memorials, statues and buildings in DC as well. I have had it with the BS. If they don’t like our history, leave the country, it was created long before the snowflakes were anyway.
On government owned land it probably will be banned totally, no re-enactments at all, flag or no flags.........................
County owned, not private....................
When all references to slavery have been abolished, we will ALL BE SLAVES.................
Government employees................
...AND from the history books.
"We have always been at war with Eastasia."
Regards,
They want to erase all references to slavery, Civil War and any thing related.
That was Winston’s job in 1984....................
Well my brother in law and I will both be flying the stars and bars this weekend as well as my next door neighbor. Along with Don’t Tread on Me.
Remember what Winston’s job was...................
“...Are we stupid people or what...”
Yep. For letting black liberals rule over us....pretty stupid.
> Or a Revolutionary War museum without any exhibits on Washington and Jefferson (slaveholders and utterly evil oppressors)? <
Don’t forget that many folks (like many Irish) find the Union Jack offensive, and a sign of oppression. Therefore, any Revolutionary War museum must also remove all references to Britain.
A proper Revolutionary War museum would consist of nothing but bare walls and empty display cases.
Ignorance on parade.
I have tee shirts and other articles of clothing, belt buckles, etc, that have the Confederate Battle Flag upon them, but now I’m old andafraid to wear them for being attacked by some punk/BLM type in a knockout game style attack..............
Not just no but “hell,NO!”
Two words: concealed carry. :-)
No guns or other weapons of war. Would offend Native Americans and gun grabbers.
No examples of tack or saddles, would offend PETA.
No examples of hard tack, would offend Glutenoids...............
Doesn’t do you much good when being hit in the head from behind......................
I have always said that the flag belongs in a museum so I do not see the problem with its display there. Stupid move to remove it completely.
Except reparations.
