Bad intel from Russia influenced Comey's Clinton announcement: report

Former FBI Director James Comey’s controversial decision to detail the FBI’s findings in the Hillary Clinton email case without Justice Department input was influenced by a dubious Russian document that the FBI now considers to be bad intelligence, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.

The secret document, which purported to be a piece of Russian intelligence, claimed that former Attorney General Loretta Lynch had privately assured someone in the Clinton campaign that the investigation into Clinton’s handling of classified information would go nowhere.

But according to people familiar with the matter, by August the FBI had come to believe the document was unreliable — and in fact may have been planted as a fake to confuse the FBI.

I suppose we could comb back through the WL dump for the email... now that I think about it, I DO remember some Soros stuff in there from her.

The smoking gun email (or ways to find it) are on that laptop.......the Justice Dept needs to see the laptop, and examine it beyond what the DC Capitol police are looking at.

How do we make that happen?

The communication is supposed to have been between DWS and Bernardo (Soros guy). Wikileaks did not have all of DWS’s emails, so it would not have been in there.

I fail to see how this could be construed as Putin helping Trump. Comey was “duped” into clearing Hillary of all charges and closing the investigation. This helps Trump? To the contrary.

Note also, had Comey believed Lynch to be an ethical AG who would never obstruct an ongoing FBI investigation, he could have dismissed this intel out of hand as BS. So he obviously believed Lynch was not above obstruction of justice, and he ran to that microphone post-haste. Do any of his famous “memos” reflect his clearly low opinion of the ethically-challenged AG Lynch?

Who was the FReeper that spent a lot of time sifting through all of the Wikileaks DNC email dumps? Maybe they have it, or at least have them catagorized?

Maybe McCabe has a copy of the email for ‘insurance’. Hell, Sessions may have it in Comey’s comms they’re curating.

The end-date - the day Seth delivered the stack - was May 25th. Lynch and WJC didn’t meet until August (?).

Bernardo would want the results of the tarmac meeting confirmed to him.

Disinformation. From the swamp, not the Russkies.

It’s all so juvenile. I feel as if I am watching a repeat of elementary and junior high school that the Dems play so well while the Republicans just roll over and walk away.

That would require energetic investigation and prosecution. We’ve got Sessions. Nothing is going to get done.

For the same reason the FBI did not investigate the DNC email systems, the same reason Clinton was not sworn in, the same reason no record was made of Clinton’s meeting: they didn’t need to.

There is no investigation. It is PR.

Let’s see if I’ve got this right: they are defending Comey - the then-director of the FBI - because he got played by the Russians?

"That would require energetic investigation and prosecution. We’ve got Sessions. Nothing is going to get done."

Sessions has been a big disappointment; most conservatives aren't even enthusiastic about law enforcement devoting a huge check of resources to chasing down pot growers or users.

The wikileaks DNC email database is searchable. I doubt many email come up with "Soros" or "Open [whatever] Society" or some acronym or keyword that might be used.

Same for other collections, like Hillary's server emails or the Podesta emails.

They are defending Comey for beating Lynch to the punch of obstructing justice.
