USAA Faces Customer Backlash After Canceling Ads on Troop Supporting Sean Hannity
Gateway Pundit ^ | 5/25/17 | Kristinn Taylor

USAA, an insurance, bank and financial services company that caters to active duty military, veterans and their families, is getting slammed by members after announcing on Twitter Wednesday night the company was withdrawing advertising on the Sean Hannity show in response to pressure from liberal activists trying to silence Hannity by cutting off his advertising base. It was not stated by USAA if they advertised on Hannity’s Fox News Channel show or his nationally syndicated radio show.

Hannity is a strong supporter of the military and veterans. He has a strong fan base among the military community.

The effort to drive Hannity off the air was promoted by Democratic Party front group Media Matters which posted a list of Hannity’s advertisers this week for liberals to complain to after Hannity pursued the unsolved 2016 murder of Democratic Party activist Seth Rich in Washington, D.C. and possible connections to Wikileaks.

As of early Thursday, seven companies have announced they are no longer advertising on Hannity’s show, according to Media Matters: Cars.com, Casper, Crowne Plaza, Leesa Sleep, Peloton, Ring.com and USAA.

A sample of the most common tweet from USAA on Hannity, “Thank you for reaching out to us. USAA advertises on news programs, but advertising on opinion shows is not in accordance with our policy.”

USAA posted a direct mention of Hannity in a reply to a poster claiming they are cancelling their accounts.

“You’ve ignored my messages USAA -all of my family’s banking and insurance is with you. We are an active duty family. We stand with Hannity…You reply to the left bots but not a member?! By Friday ALL of our stuff will be moved to Navy Fed and GEICO/ALL State/Nationwide, et al.”

USAA coldly replied, “We are no longer advertising in relation to Hannity. Thank you!”

Many others claiming to be USAA members chimed in to say they too were canceling their accounts with USAA.

GEICO came on one USAA thread to welcome potential new customers.

More accounts being closed, many after being with USAA for decades:

(snipped additional responses)

And Average Joe sums it up nicely, “How can a company who supports Vets who fought for our rights cave to silencing free speech. You ought to be ashamed”

(snip)

Hannity is scheduled to take a long Memorial Day weekend break starting Thursday. Will he have a show to return to next week? Will USAA have a customer base next week?

You are right about that, too. WW has gone the way of self serving United Way...

You know my Boycott List is several dozens long. It is easy to boycott them, because there was always another place I could spend my money or I didn’t go to them in the first place. The latest was McDonald’s, after the Robert Gibbs diatribe.

However, this one hits home. This is where we put our money where are mouth is. USAA needs to go down hard for this.

Is that the one that spent $25 million dollars on a party?

I saw some report on it; I was thinking it was them (WWP).

I am a GEICO customer and I just sent GEICO the email message below and I suggest everyone snd them an email letting them know how they could win your business or if already a GEICO member tell them how they could make you happy. You don’t have to be a member or log in to send them a email. Just go to “customer service.”

“I am very happy with Geico and I see an opportunity for Geico to grow. You may have heard there are a large number of USAA members who are very unhappy because USAA cowered to the faciat group at Medica Matters and pull advertising for Sean Hannity. You could use this to your advantage by extending support of Hannity and possibly advertising on his show and then sending out mailers directed at current USAA customers letting them know you support them and Sean Hannity.”

I am hopeful this affects their bottom line but doubt enough people care. The deck is stacked and like Rush said yesterday...we are not on the winning side.

The USAA FB page is an interesting read right now. Overwhelming outrage there by their really bad “business decision”. Another example of corporate political correctness and soft fascism that infects the planet.

Look around you and you see everyone running scared because unless they conform to demands, they will be blasted out of business. God, how I HATE social media!!!

USAA has the best commercials on Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day. I’ve been brought to tears once because it was so touching.

They are doing it in hopes that the number of lost customers boycotting in favor of Hannity is less than the number of boycotting customers (or those who have never banked with USAA) who are anti-Hannity.

I have no problem with walking with my money if someone pisses me off, but not this time. We’re too financially linked with our hard earned money to go to any other bank.

I just informed USAA via twitter and email that I need to look for another company.

I have been a USAA customer since I was a lowly LT USN nuc submarine officer. They always comment on how many decades ago that was.

USAA has been going down for some time.

This is the final straw.

They have forgotten their customers.

All of my money goes through USAA. The only product I currently buy from USAA is their Auto Insurance. I have my auto loans and mortgages through others. I am shopping for a new auto policy.

I personally find what USAA did a stab in the back. There is no reason for them to participate in this pile on of Hannity. To be honest, I haven’t even watched or listened to Hannity in years. It seems like something bigger is afoot here; USAA just showed what side they are on.
