Thanks the Lord we live in North America. We don’t have the same percentages as the UK, or the same lack of assimilation. (With the exception of Islamic hell holes like Detroit and Windsor).
During the changing of the Guards, they have over 50 march to the palace from the Guard barracks about four blocks away. They would be sitting ducks for an attack against them.
Forgot about the military band that marches with the troops as they go to change the guards.
Having armed police has not prevented the USA from suffering significantly higher casualties than the UK from Muslim terrorism in the last decade.
It's a major tourist attraction with not a lot of security surrounding it. Not only are the personnel sitting ducks but so is the audience. And the symbolism of a bombing at that demonstration of British military tradition would make it a very attractive target.

They are not mostly ceremonial. They are very well trained infantry soldiers on guard duty - most of the current batch will have seen action when their regiments have been deployed to Afghanistan. They wear their traditional uniforms and carry out some ceremonial parade duties when guarding the palaces but they are real soldiers there to do a real soldiers job.
Cutting back on the ceremonial is not a bad thing as some people seem to want to try and claim. It allows them to focus on their core duty - protecting the Palaces and the Royal Household during a time of increased danger.
Yes, they will have live ammunition. They are on alert.
There are occasions when soldiers on guard in ceremonial dress may not have live ammunition but only in cases where the security threat is assessed as low. As soon as the threat level goes up, they are issued with ammunition.
Soldiers deployed in battledress carrying their rifles will definitely be ready for action. These are highly trained professional soldiers. There’s no reason not to trust them with loaded weapons when the threat is real.
