A major liberal group is targeting advertisers for Sean Hannity's Fox News show as they look to push back against his promotion of a conspiracy theory surrounding a killed Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer.
Media watchdog group Media Matters For America on Tuesday published a list of Hannity's advertisers — a long list that includes major companies such as Allstate, Angie's List, Bayer, Capitol One, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Mercedes-Benz and Publishers Clearing House
While the list was published with little context, it comes as Media Matters continues to blast Hannity for claiming, without evidence, that Seth Rich leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks and suggesting that Democratic campaigns or groups were behind his killing.
The accusations about Rich's death have been part of Hannity's show and Twitter feed for days. On Twitter, he's accused Democrats of scrambling to cover up proof and promoted a number of people siding with his theory.
Hannity has drawn more recent scrutiny for promoting Kim Dotcom, a disgraced internet entrepreneur in New Zealand facing extradition to the U.S. on a slew of financial charges. Dotcom claims he can prove Rich's ties to WikiLeaks.
Critics have bristled at Hannity's decision to double down on the theory without any hard evidence, and Rich's brother asked Fox to cancel the interview in a letter obtained by CNN.

Internet entrepreneur and hacker, Kim DotCom, admitted on Saturday that he was part of an operation along with Seth Rich to get stolen DNC emails to Wikileaks. On Monday Rush Limbaugh talked about the Kim DotCom claims that Seth Rich was the Wikileaks leaker and NOT the Russians. Rush Limbaugh: This story is now starting to get legs that Seth Rich was murdered. It was a contract hire killing because he was leaking to Wikileaks. He was the one. The only colluding and rigging here folks is the Democrat primary election… There is a massive lawsuit against the DNC by Bernie supporters, for him getting shafted… Kim DotCom, the noted hacker, has now come forward and said he was working with Seth Rich to get the documents to Wikileaks. I personally saw the article posted at Drudge, so I know what Rush is talking about.
Except for natural disasters, every significant event in history was the result of a “conspiracy.”
“Conspiracy theory”—as a supposed squelch or refutation—is the height of mindlessness.
Rush is a crashing bore. He has been unnecessary as a conduit of information for at least 20 years.

If it is just a crazy conspiracy theory, why not let Sean run with it since it will just marginalize him ? Their actions are revealing that this story will hurt them badly.
