An excellent commentary, I share your thoughts (except I’ll withhold comment on the JSF). ;-)
Swarming with an unlimited number can work but would you like to be one of those throw-away as part of a swarm? Personally I’d rather not be “expendable, but that’s just me.
The LIMFAC we have is number of weapons. That’s a tough one.
IMHO.
Cheers
"The engine nacelles are fitted with trouser fairings to provide a continuous streamlined profile between the nacelles and the tail beams."
What are "trouser fairings?"
"The aircraft is equipped with a 30mm GSh-301 gun with 150 rounds of ammunition ..."
And people are complaining about how few rounds the much smaller F-35A carries.
I’m sure many of the Sherman tank crews felt something akin to throw aways initially. Until they worked out what it took to defeat German tanks in battle. I believe they were always at a disadvantage. All the more respect for those young men who bravely lived and died rescuing Europe and the world from tyranny. We overwhelmed them with numbers, both men and equipment despite the logistics of the Atlantic Ocean. The boys on Omaha beach, Anzio, the Battle of the Bulge, A Bridge too Far, Ploesti, and a thousand other battles could have considered themselves throw aways, but they did it, they overcame, they persevered, and in the end, they won. What a generation. That same character needs constant nurturing. I wonder if we today have what it takes, and then we look at our young soldiers in hot spots around the world, and they are still doing the impossible.
Thanks for your comments, sorry I got wound up.
