ONTARIO >> As he looked out among the sea of graduates, Richard Montañez was 2 miles from where it all began.

Where once he was the janitor at the Frito-Lay plant on Archibald Avenue, he now was Chaffey College’s keynote speaker.

Before the commencement Thursday, Montañez sat in a lounge at Citizens Business Bank Arena, sharing his life story with one person, then to a group of Chaffey College dignitaries, then ultimately to the audience at the college’s 100th commencement. Each time his tone shifted, the passion emanating from his booming voice was obvious.

I went to middle school and high school in Upland 1965-1968.
The polluted air (sulfer dioxide) was mainly coming in from
Kaiser Steel in Fontana. Used to be acres & acres of lemon & orange groves in Upland. A few miles east were grape vinyards! Bet you won’t find any of them today!

Our school cafeteria sold a bag of Fritos for a nickel. For a nickel more, they would ladle a scoop of chili con carne in the bag!

B.T.W.... Mount San Antonio in the winter, was a beatuful sight!

It is an excellent story. He had a concept, he pitched it to his boss, it became successful and he was promoted. I thought conservatives praised initiative.

That’s what got him the attention of his employer and made lots of money for his employer, but didn’t you read the rest of it? He is now a senior marketing executive there.

CNBC floated this story again today. Truth is burrito boy really didn’t invent anything. Some Cheetos emerged Uncoated and he took them home. He also got the idea to use Chili powder from a street vendor. Guess he did produce the cajones to contact the CEO...but no doubt the Success Story is just an Affirmative Action construct put Whitey in the same place and you would never know the name.

Fake feel good story, especially useful for trumping up the great contributions of the spawn of illegals.
