Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson held a joint press conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
At one point in his opening statement Adel Al-Jubeir told reporters the House of Saud was looking forward to draining the swamp of extremism.

...while another Billion is sent to terrorists.
Only a liberal or a moron, but I repeat myself, would believe that.
You know you’re WINNING when leaders of a desert nation want to “drain the swamp”.
Time will tell. IMHO I think Saudi Arabia wants to defeat ISIS and rein in Iran. I believe this is what it is all about. You will notice that 50 Arab leaders will be attending and I believe from Pakistan as well. I believe these people think President Trump is serious compared to the last duffus in the oval office. So from that they will be more likely to jump on the Trump train.
You and I both KNOW that I and many others will have to swallow that BITTER BITTER pill of seeing the Sauds get off the hook for 9/11, because of that POS GW.
As much as it hurts me, declaring war 16 years after the fact is not going to happen.
Hell, we can’t even get them to pay for the crime financially.
I will ask my friends’ forgiveness and move on, I guess.
Your opinion?
Jubeir almost couldn’t have been more positive about Trump and his “strength” and “vision.” The lefties pretend that all Muslims prefer a softer touch from America on ISIS, the Taliban, Iran, Yemen, Al-Qaeda, etc. and hate Trump for his hard-core approach and controversial words (like “radical Islamic extremism”). They don’t. Muslims who are threatened by these groups are relieved that someone with some guts and determination to wipe out radical Islamic terrorism is now in power—unlike the previous occupant of the White House. Obama called ISIS the JV squad and played patty-cake with them, while handing over tons of cash to the Iranians. Those days are over, and the Saudis seem thrilled.
Sorry. But any dealings or involvement with the Saudis is repulsive. The Saudis protect and finance the Wahhabi. It was the Wahhabi that motivated, recruited and financed the 9/11 terrorists. Their perverse teaching of Islam not only molded the consciences of the 9/11 terrorists but also the barbaric Sunni jihadists who perform unspeakable crimes and terror. What’s more Saudi intelligence and the “royals” were well aware of the 9/11 plot and did nothing to warn the American government. Bush sadly never held his Saudi buddies accountable and instead invaded Iraq. Trump is making a bad error by giving the vile Saudis the validation of a Presidential visit.
My opinion is President Trump knows damn good and well what this is all about. During the meetings I bet in no uncertain terms that President Trump is telling them in a nice way that none of these arms better wind up in the hands of the terrorist.
Also IMHO we need everyone we can get to annihilate ISIS and rein in Iran. Again IMHO Iran is the biggest threat in that area and North Korea their ally is another big threat. It is a global effort.
Qaddafi and Saddam Hussein were also very unsavory characters, but they were better than ISIS and much less of a threat to us than ISIS, its worldwide terror campaign, and goal of an international caliphate are today. The Middle East seems to need strong, authoritarian governments to keep the ISIS/Al-Qaeda types in check.
Saudi Arabia is a fundamentalist country but the government is genuinely threatened by ISIS and the Iranian theocrats, as they had been from Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden, who wanted to overthrow the house of Saud to make way for a Taliban-like pure theocracy. The pro-American government there actually does need our support to keep even worse groups from within their own country from taking power (although I do think we need to pressure them to crack down on domestic extremists much more). This is no different than our normal stance during the Cold War, when we sided with dictators and that sort when they would help us oppose the Soviets.
8 years of Obama resulted in America’s retreat from the Middle East allowing Iran and Russia to fill the void. A Sunni version of NATO would go a long way to reversing the situation quickly. Good for President Trump!
I thought it was all just DESERT SAND.
The Saudis did say they accept Iran's elected gov, and will judge them by their actions.
Whabbism to be drained? Not likely.
Sean Spicer has released an official statement that this is the largest arms sale in U.S. history, $109.7 billion immediately and $240 billion more over ten years for missiles, bombs, armored personnel carriers, Littoral Combat Ships, THAAD missile defense systems, and munitions.
Geographic desert sand. Moral swamp. The Saudis are our allies but so was Stalin during WWII.
Eat that, Russia and China
The Saudi’s are evil. We support and are friends with a nation that is worse than Nazi Germany.
This planet is bent.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
