The Russians didn’t hack the DNC. A DNC staffer, by the name of Seth Rich, abtained access to Podesta emails and gave them to Wikileaks. He was later found dead. His murder was ruled a robbery, although nothing was stolen.

Seth Rich leaked DNC info, not Podest e-mails. His death hasn't been ruled anything, the "botched robbery" is a working theory of people who want to avoid the "murdered for leaking" theory.

Still, your point is well taken, that's why I said "a bit off".
