When Vice President Mike Pence delivers the commencement speech at Notre Dame on Sunday, he'll likely speak to fewer people than he expected.
Some students at the Catholic university plan to walk out of the speech as part of a protest against Pence and his policies, which they say target marginalized people on the basis of their religion, skin color or sexual orientation, according to the student activist group We Stand For.
Luis Miranda, a co-organizer of the walkout, said Pence, as Indiana governor and as vice president, targeted vulnerable people with his policies. Catholic values promote standing up for the poor and marginalized, so he plans to stand up on Sunday, literally.
Miranda said some of his family members are undocumented immigrants and have felt under siege by the Trump administration's crackdown on immigration. "They are going to be in the audience in one of the most important moments of my life with someone targeting them for who they are," he said.
The plan, according to a Facebook event, is to stand up when Pence begins speaking, walk toward the exit quietly, and, of course, live tweet the protest under the #WalkoutND hashtag.
As of Thursday afternoon, about 75 people had signed up to participate in the walkout.
"This is not just about the numbers, but about standing up for truth," Miranda said. "We feel that there is power in truth and hopefully there will be power in numbers that come stand up with us."

This is a smokescreen. The real reason they are walking out is that Starbucks, Wendys and Burger King are opening a bunch of new starter positions at that time and Notre Shame students want to be first in line for the only jobs they are qualified for.
They should be denied their diplomas.

Every commencement I’ve ever been to where the speaker was a senator or higher, has had a policy of requiring you to stay in your seat once you’ve been frisked and passed into the area. I doubt, when the VP of the United States is present, that people can just get up and wander around.
I don’t think the commencement ceremony itself has anything to do with completing degree requirements. They don’t even hand out the actual diplomas at the event — they mail them, usually months later.
The truth my friend, is that illegal aliens violated our immigration laws by jumping the line ahead of the immigrants that came into our country in a legal manner. Miranda is also insulting those who believe in obeying the laws of the land. Miranda is an embarrassment to Notre Dame.
I am not sure about the latter comment because Notre Dame committed a great sin by honoring Barack Obama, a well-documented agent of Satan.
I have friends who would like their daughter to attend ND (I think they’re alums) - they would be paying the full price $50K/yr or whatever, while she would get to attend classes with SJWs getting a free ride. No thanks.

Luis Miranda will be graduating next weekend with a master’s degree in peace studies from the University of Notre Dame.
notre dame embarrassed itself in giving Clown Prince nobama an “honorary” degree”. These students embarrass themselves in being LIB idiots. Potential employers should review the video to identify those who walk out. Potential “bad hires”, I’d say.
