Should be fruit
Teach them Spanish and how to urinate on the crops and you have your replacements.
Slavery and the use of Hispanic migrants both have the same effects in the regions they’re used in: they set back technological advancement tremendously. You don’t automate cheap labor; you automate labor that is hard to find. The cotton-pickers in the South were in abundant supply, so there was no incentive for the South to industrialize and accept more efficient manufacturing processes. The same is true with Hispanic migrants in the agriculture industry. After the Civil War, the South was basically a backwater until really today when you’ve started seeing more firms go to the South since it’s more pro-business than the socialists in the Democrat-held states of the North and West, but if we keep letting cheap labor hinder technological progress, then we will pay the price.
Do they spray paint walls and molest little kids?
Robots would not take a dump on your produce.....
What will we do with all the surplus Mexicans?
increase minimum wage = more automation
Suppose a nasty bug, like the one sweeping the world now, gets loosed on a bunch of AI robots.
The liberal’s solution to this “problem” (no illegal immigrants equals less democratic voters) will be to tax the robots until they were no longer economically feasible.
Count on it.
Or—the liberals could get a little creative and have civil rights protests demanding that robots get voting rights (and requiring that they have a hard-wired Internet connection to the Democratic National Committee mainframe before voting).
;-)
Being a generous country, we should expedite the return of the soon to be surplus “valuable members of the community” back to their home countries.
The article estimates 10 or 20 years for the industry to shift to predominantly robot harvesting.
That same timeframe will be running concurrently in many other industries, as robots acquire more human-competitive abilities; like mobility, dexterity, vision, and the knowledge to make good judgements (like ripeness or spoilage).
Robots will be taking over most manual tasks over a similar timeframe - the last generation of humans forced to do old-fashioned dirty, dangerous, boring and repetitive drudge work.
“The work is hard and dangerous, and has long drawn Mexican workers to central Washington, where several counties near the Canadian border are now majority-Hispanic.”

Well, it is a physical job. Takes the place of a workout in the gym. You don’t get fat.
Dangerous???
Biggest danger today is stepping in illegals’ crap.
They are not true replacements until they go to a sanctuary city and kill an innocent girl!!!
