Why do people see a tragedy like this and make comical remarks about it?

You either laugh or you cry.

[Why do people see a tragedy like this and make comical remarks about it?]

It is a reflex response to the vulnerability of American citizens because of our government system.

I’ve always found that disturbing, too.

#19: It’s called “Morgue Humor”.

If you haven’t been seriously injured/wounded, or dead (I was for a short time, cardiac arrest), you won’t understand it. A way of getting away from the horror of these crimes.

Not for the squemish. (No, that is not an Oregon/Washington State Indian tribe. That is Squamish).

I always wondered about that. The weird thing is... a real nasty Democrat (who has made America worse) will die and someone will post "Good Riddance". A bunch of people will jump on that poster and say that "we're better than that".

I've never understood why sometimes the average citizens will get mocked/goofed on, but the politician gets a pass.

“Why do people see a tragedy like this and make comical remarks about it?”

Well established coping mechanism recognized by mental health professionals for a century.
