It’s a 1970s AM Top 40 thing. “Boogie Check” was John “Records” Landecker’s call-in-and-be-funny-on-the-air segment as the evening deejay on WLS radio out of Chicago.
So, it’s a reference as dated and irrelevant to the world of today as the aforementioned Todd Rundgren.
