President Trump said that he could have a new FBI director in place before he departs for his first overseas trip Friday, an ambitious goal that would give him just a few days to fill one of the most important and sensitive posts in government.
"Even that is possible," the president said aboard Air Force One when asked whether he might make a selection before leaving for Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican.
Trump briefly addressed journalists before flying to Lynchburg, Va., where he delivered a commencement speech at Liberty University. At the same time, Justice Department officials were beginning the first day of interviews for candidates to replace James B. Comey, whom Trump fired Tuesday.
Eight contenders were expected to interview on Saturday, including Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.); acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe; Alice Fisher, a white-collar defense lawyer who previously led the Justice Department’s criminal division; Michael J. Garcia, a judge on the New York State Court of Appeals who previously served as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York; Adam S. Lee, the special agent in charge of the FBI's Richmond field office; U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson, who presides over the Eastern District of Virginia; Frances Townsend, a former Bush Homeland Security adviser; and former House Intelligence Committee chairman Mike Rogers.

First, you have to determine if there ARE any good cops left. And FWIW, making them “happy” should NOT be the goal of the new Director, adhering to The Constitution should be job one. Any “happiness” that occurs should only be a byproduct.
This assertion that it would be a rushed decision is ridiculous. They have been giving serious consideration to replacing Comey for months. Of course they have already considered who should get the job. MSM and the Rats want to keep McCabe at the helm as long as possible because he’s nothing but a Rat operative himself. Trump has to get him out of there ASAP.

Of the 4 or so names put forward, my money is on Judge Mike Garcia, a former federal prosecutor, appointed by Pres. Bush as a U.S. Attorney.....and now an Associate Judge in the New York Court of Appeals.
Law enforcement background, Republican, smart, youthful enough, nice-looking....and a Hispanic last name, to boot.

Absolutely, and he’s only on the list to avoid the $hit storm this next week that would ensue if he weren’t. Not sure about the “why” for Cornyn, because I think he’s an absolute GOPe turd. I can’t believe Trump would appoint him to get him out of the Senate, but maybe it would make sense if he could get the Texas governor to appoint a better person. Ditto for Mike Rogers.
Fran Townsend was just added to the list. She helped Rudy clear out the mob in NYC.

It would nice to get Cornyn swapped out for a Conservative but he cannot be trusted to run the FBI. He is deep state no doubt about it.
Whoever accepts the position will have a huge job just cleaning up the department.

John Cornyn? All I’ve known about Cornyn is that he’s a BSing, flip-flopping political hack. How does someone like that get onto a list of candidates for a serious gig like FBI Director? IMHO his first act would be to restart Comey’s protecting of Hillary.
If Trump wants to drive the media crazy, he could tell them he’s considering Ambassador Kislyak for the job. (Kislyak has a background in intelligence gathering, he’s well-liked, and knows the ways of Washington.). What a sh#t storm that would cause.
Adam Lee and Henry Hudson are good men, the rest them I don’t have a high opinion.
