The cartels have been in the northern CA national forest areas literally for decades, driven by the immense profit to be made from the blackmarket value of marijuana. When California passed the medical marijuana law, the price of marijuana, after a few years, dropped drastically. Now that recreational marijuana is legal, I would expect a further price drop, not to mention the fact that damn near anyone can grow it, so no need to buy it from shady people.
