He was elected on November 8, 2016, but officially did not become president until he was approved by Congress, which happened before January 20, 2017. So from November 9th until he was inaugurated he was the President elect.

The day after the election Mr. Trump acted presidential as opposed to say his predecessor who it seemed sulked and hid for the next weeks.
