McCain Blasts Trump on Lack of Human Rights Focus
The New Delhi Times ^ | May 9, 2017 | Staff

U.S. Senator John McCain is criticizing the foreign policy of the Trump administration, saying it is not focused enough on human rights abuses around the world.

In an op-ed article for the New York Times Friday, the Republican senator said the United States has an obligation to speak out for human rights as a country that was created from “an ideal that liberty is the inalienable right of mankind.”

He criticized recent comments made by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson who said conditioning U.S. foreign policy too heavily on values creates obstacles to advance U.S. national interests.

“With those words, Secretary Tillerson sent a message to oppressed people everywhere: Don’t look to the United States for hope … We make policy to serve our interests, which are not related to our values,” McCain wrote.

McCain said some will credit Tillerson’s point of view with realism, but he said “if by realism they mean policy that is rooted in the world as it is, not as we wish it to be, they couldn’t be more wrong.” He said it is foolish to view realism and idealism as incompatible. McCain said the demand by people for human rights is reality, and said that by denying them these rights, we “invite their enduring resentment.”

“To view foreign policy as simply transactional is more dangerous than its proponents realize,” he wrote. “Our values are our greatest strength and treasure.”

McCain, a Republican senator from Arizona, has criticized the Trump administration on a range of issues, including the president’s immigration orders and wish to have better relations with Russia. McCain has also sparred with the president about comments he made on the possible legality of torture and gave only a lukewarm endorsement of Tillerson during his confirmation process.

I think the best part of McCain must have run down his daddy’s leg during conception.

Best thing this moron ever did in his life was choose Sarah Palin as his running mate.

And then, when she demonstrated vastly superior campaign skills, he directed his people to do everything they could to destroy her.

"Nobody - I mean NOBODY - outshines *me* on the campaign trail! You got that? Huh?!"

It’s a national disgrace that Obama ever became president, and John McCain was one of the reasons why he did.

McCain was a vile child. He was an out of control youth. He was a vulgar demented student in his college days. He was dangerously out of control In Naval flight school. He was dangerously out of control in his early flight days. McCain had lost two Or three aircraft before he went on active combat duty.

Out of the service he abandoned the wife that waited out his POW years. Ron and Nancy Reagan were not amused. They and others stepped in to support her.

John saw Cindy and he was in love before he crossed the room to meet her.

This member of the Keeting Five received the most cash of the five. Senator Cranston had to step down. McCain once again skated another scandalous incident.

The list of bull stuff things McCain has done in his life and political career is too long to fully explore here.

It’s clear he is mentally unstable, and IMO that goes back many years, perhaps even to his youth.

There is something wrong with this man.

He’s an angry SOB, and at no time was that more clear than his treatment of the MIA families and their representatives when they opposed him granting MFN status to Vetnam over their and veteran’s objections.

He is a nasty mean hair trigger from exploding person.

When we are fortunate enough to see the likes of him shove off this old planet, the only place fitting enough for his burial site, would be beneath a cattle holding pin, where excrement would always be plentiful.

The only crime in that would be that he wouldn’t be forced to endure the stench for eternity, one of the few things that could smell worse than him, figuratively.

The only reason I voted that year was for Sarah. And McStain stabbed her in the back.

Ditto.

Trump has been in office 100 days. McFreako has been in public office 35 years and hasn't done jack so needs to shut up.

This from the SOB who SINGLE-HANDEDLY halted all Congressional efforts to repatriate our POW/hostages (that we now know existed) from the execrable NVA.

...............AND the RINOs ran him for POTUS, no less.
