It was a manufactured “racist” smear against Donald Mintz in the 1994 NOLA mayoral race. I was there when Landrieu sprang the trap at a Loyola University sponsored debate. I watched both men. The viciousness and impact of the slander was appalling. Mintz reacted as if he had been physically stabbed. Landrieu’s gloating was malignant and obscene.
