Richard Dreyfuss: Constitutionalist
American Prowler ^ | May 1, 2017 | MELISSA MACKENZIE

Posted on 05/03/2017 4:34:55 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The older a person gets, the less surprised by people they tend to be, or can be. Then along comes Richard Dreyfuss – a man I thought was a liberal actor and maybe he is, in the classic- liberal sense anyway.

Here Mr. Dreyfuss is on Tucker Carlson’s show, ostensibly to debate Tucker. It didn’t happen, though, because Tucker didn’t disagree with a word Mr. Dreyfuss said. Watch below:

Mr. Dreyfuss is concerned about:

The constitution Civics lessons in school Political correctness killing the war of ideas What a refreshing interview.

Here is a link to Richard Dreyfuss’ civics initiative. Sign the preamble!

He’s said that people shouldn’t have guns.

His interpretation of the constitution is much like mine, only I finish up my dissertation with “It doesn’t matter what the government allows you to do - you have every right to defend yourself in any way you see fit. Period. Constitution or not.

ICYMI: Richard Dreyfuss reads Moses in the “Word of Promise” production of the New King James Bible. One can’t read Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy without getting a real feeling for the founding documents of this country, because that is what they are based on.

Dreyfuss is a mixed bag, which is actually a compliment for an actor. If you expect him to be conservative, he will disappoint you. But he also is no brain-dead doctrinaire liberal. Remember that he went to a Ted Cruz rally during the campaign and seemed to have a truly open mind about it. I’ve always liked him as an actor and am glad that at least one actor I like isn’t spewing 100% liberal BS.

A great book on the Constitution:

’ no constitutional right to have one person who works to pay another persons insurance premiums while he sits on his or her ass’
Agreed.
But the issue should be Health Care instead of Health Insurance. Someone should turn the tables on this argument and insist that health care providers should be required to provide unlimited health care regardless since Health Care is a ‘right’. Payment is a side issue.

Dreyfuss wrote a very admirable piece about Charlton Heston , at the time when most of the anti-gun crowd in Hollywood was reveling in the news of Heston's terminal illness.

That has bought him a few points with me ever since.

I remember when the Clintons first entered the Whitehouse and were greeting all these people that were lined up outside. Dryfus was one of them, and they caught it on camera telling Bubba that if he needed anything at all, to call him.

I didn’t think much of him after that until I saw Tucker interview him. As far as Hollywood goes, he appears to be quite reasonable now.

Don’t mistake Dreyfuss for a Constitutionalist, his vision of government’s role is much closer to F.D Roosevelt than Reagan. However he is committed to open debate about ideas and free expression, which makes him as rare as a unicorn in SJW dominated leftist politics these days.

I met Joe Lieberman too. He’s a good guy, good head on his shoulders and he’s also not that far left at all.

But he’s still a democrat and at the very least should keep his treacherous mouth shut - and at most, like all traitors, be shown a bent street lamp.
