Here’s what that means: More boots on the ground - Customs and Border Protection will see $12.2 billion in funding—$911 million above last fiscal year—which means more agents, enhanced technology, and better tools to stem the flow of illegal activities across our border, as President Trump requested in his own budget amendment.
The end of “catch and release” - With funding for tens of thousands of detention beds, electronic monitoring, and GPS tracking—not to mention the hiring of additional officers in the field—Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will have the resources they need to get the job done.
Stronger investigations - From cybercrime and drug smuggling to human trafficking and child exploitation, ICE will receive an additional $92 million towards their important investigative work.
Earlier this year, Speaker Ryan learned firsthand about the challenges our law enforcement professionals face along our southern border, and together with the Trump administration, Congress will provide them the tools they need to secure the border and keep Americans safe.

And a president Elizabeth Warren, Chelsea Clinton, Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush can fire them all or re-assign them to AIDS awareness or transgender outreach and there won’t be a wall.

It would seem logical a wall would most definitely be needed to provide for, enclose and protect monitoring points for said enhanced technology

The White House was singing the praises of this too acting like they won. Meanwhile, the Democrats clearly won - Chuck and Nancy are gloating, and the NYT, WaPo, and assorted liberal outlets are proclaiming victory for the Democrats.

Paul Ryan - a true enemy of the american people.
They only just got the bids let alone the designs of how it's going to be brought together the best way possible. And that takes planning and creating the enviornment to do this.....
Or we can of course do like John McCain suggested and just build a "fence".
Trump wants this done right....and a project like this is huge and must be brought together to get the best results.....the way Trump likes to see things done.
I'm not willing to settle on just a wall .....we've been building the for years down there.....I want a project that will accomplish all the purposes we're putting it there for.
Ryans delivered what he was told to deliver IMO...and according to the phases this is going to be done.
The barrier/Wall/Fence array is still in the prototype phase and likey still funded at that level.
Many Countries have experience with this issue and could provide expert help, including manning of same and legal positions/processes.
The US needs to get its act togheter, soonrr rather than later.
