As President Trump took the stage to champion the Second Amendment at a National Rifle Association convention on Friday, a United States senator sought to counter his message by unleashing a Twitter storm using the names, ages and pictures of gun violence victims.
Senator Christopher S. Murphy, Democrat of Connecticut, who has fought for increased gun control since the 2012 school massacre in his home state, posted on Twitter on Friday morning to urge his followers not to watch Mr. Trump’s speech and instead, “think about who we are fighting for.”

So, if Trump made a Speech to the Auto Club, the Senator would show pictures of Fatal Car Crashes?
Begs the question of how many of the gunshot victims were injured with a weapon registered by the gunman. Likely very few.
Uh, those would be the pictures of all the murder victims from the illegal guns in Chicago - right!

I’d love to be able to ask this frat boy senator, with a national audience watching: “How many of the shooters of these victims were NRA members?”
And in the unlikely event that ANY of them were shot by NRA members, I’d like to be able to ask him if the ‘victims’ were committing a crime at the time they were shot.

Pictures would be more gruesome if they were stabbed or bludgeoned to death.
Well, Senator, if you’ll release the names of the lobbyists who visited you, and or sponsored your speeches on junkets, perhaps we’d know for sure ‘who we’re fighting for.’
I wonder how many of those pictures are of gang members killed by assault weapons that were smuggled across the Mexican border.

Of the 56,259 homicides from 2009-2012, 19,000 (33.8%) were the killings of black males.
• Comparisons by types of homicides of black males:
• 481 (2.5%) were the result of police use of force
• 152 (0.8%) were the result of a negligent accident homicides (i.e., child playing with a gun)
• 648 (3.4%) were the result of a justifiable homicides by private citizens acting in self-defense
• 17,719 (93.3%) were criminal homicides (murders)
• While only 6% of the U.S. population is identified as black and male, 57.9% of the persons legally killed by a private citizen in self-defense were black males.
• However, 73.1% of the black males legally killed by a citizen in self-defense between 2009-2012 were killed by a black citizen.
• 42.6% of victims of all solved criminal homicides from 2009-2012 were black males
• 89.6% of black males killed in criminal homicides from 2009-2012 were killed by another black male.
• There are roughly 32,000 gun deaths per year in the United States. Of those, around 60% are suicides. We are losing the war on mental health in this country.
• Due to a variety of societal factors, black males are disproportionately involved in violent crime, especially against black citizens. What is the root of this violent activity? It is the illegal drug industry. We are losing the war on drugs. Get rid of the drugs—not the guns—and the gun violence will disappear.
