Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that an open and free internet is vital for America in the 21st century. During a speech at the Newseum on Wednesday, Pai said he plans to roll back the net-neutrality regulations and to restore the light-touch regulatory system established by President Bill Clinton and Congressional Republicans by the 1996 Telecommunications Act.
Net neutrality passed under former Democrat Tom Wheelers FCC in 2010. The rule, known as the Open Internet Order, reclassified the internet as a public monopoly. Critics chided the rule, stating that it would diminish the freedom of the internet. Proponents argue that the regulations prevent Internet service providers from discriminating against content providers.

Hey Agit, you a$$hole, how about fixing “Do Not Call” for openers!

(starts out funny, but some parts are very moving..I cried)
I don’t know, l thought what Pai said about the Government sticking its claws into the internet sounded pretty good.
Now that you mention it, I get calls almost everyday from phone numbers I do not recognize, and are not on my contact list. Great to have caller ID on phones, I simply shut the ring off and ignore the calls. I will never answer the calls. If it is not a sales call, and is important, they will leave a voice message.
Funny thing is the same number seldom calls again, which could mean they must be flagging my number as non-responsive.
WOW, long video of Berkeley rioters, with the great musical background! Thanks!!
When I saw your post I muttered to myself,”Who’d cry at a video?”
I just watched it and also teared up-——where on earth has our wonderful country gone?
Music can be so powerful.
.
Great article!

FCC Chair: Hysterical Prophecies Led Dems To Almost Break The Internet In Just Two Years

Were you one of the naive people that thought the police-less FCC would be able to enforce the Do Not Call list? Because it was a joke from the beginning. The FCC can do nothing but refer charges and the US Attorneys have ‘better’ things to do.
That’s a pay service.
Thanks
THANK YOU!
This would be a legitimate use of government resources and power, yet no one seems to be able to address this legitimate problem.

Yes! our wireline phone ( now VOIP) is almost unusable. And unlike our cell phones where you can easily make an incoming unwanted caller one of your “contacts,” then immediately block them, home phones have a much more cumbersome, and limited process for blocking calls. Plus these people appear to be “spoofing” phone numbers and using them to make their calls. A couple of nights ago we received about six calls in short succession with the same message, and each was from a different number that had not caller ID. So now I’ve put a message on our answering machine that tells all callers we’re tired of telemarketers so we’re not answering the phone, so if the caller is a friend, leave a message and we will call them back. The other thing that’s “fun” to do, is to hold your finger over the mouthpiece on your handset and answer the call. If it’s a “machine” calling, it doesn’t know what to do with dead silence. So it stays connected for about 30 seconds then automatically drops. When there is someone live calling, they keep saying hello to no avail until they figure out it’s a lost cause.
The phone companies have projects that have been far more effective than the Do Not Call list.
Also, seriously, why did you think that handing a bunch of scummy (and evasive) telemarketers a list of phone numbers and admonishing them to never call them was going to work out well? That’s like handing the local burglars a bunch of house keys with addresses attached and telling them to make sure they never make a key that looks like these and never use those keys period.
Pssst - most VOIP systems can have a similar block list. There’s also the nomorobo program that can set that up.
This is also why people have gone completely to cell phones. VOIP ‘landline’ service isn’t any more reliable.
