President Trump has signed a stopgap spending bill to avert a government shutdown, the White House announced Friday evening.
The measure funds the government through May 5, giving lawmakers more time to reach an agreement on an omnibus spending bill that would carry through the rest of the fiscal year ending Sept. 30.
The legislation easily cleared both chambers earlier Friday; the Senate approved the measure by voice vote after the House voted 382-30 to pass it.
If the measure had not been adopted, the government would have shutdown at midnight right as the Trump administration entered its 100th day.
Republican and Democratic negotiators will need to iron out a number of wrinkles in the spending deal when they return to Washington next week, including disputes over healthcare for miners and debt assistance for Puerto Rico.
Trump publicly accused Democrats of fomenting a shutdown crisis by making those demands, especially after the White House dropped its request that money for his proposed border wall be included in the measure.
Why o why are republicans so stupid...even the people advising trump on this? They KNOW they can’t deal with Democrats why even try?
And we’re concerned about the government shutting down because why now?
His signature is not required.
Pubs took money for the wall out of the budget to try to reach an agreement.
Democrats refused to agree.
So start Trump’s 2nd 100 days on the right foot and put the wall money back in.

We have the majority in the big three.
Presidency
Senate
House of Representatives
Being in the driver’s seat, McConnell and Ryan can’t even give us a budget. They strip the wall out and still have to give us a short continuing resolution.
This is like folding with a King high Royal Flush in Hearts.
McDonnell and Ryan need to step down. NOW!
Shameful.
“Why o why are republicans so stupid...even the people advising trump on this? They KNOW they cant deal with Democrats why even try?”
It seems to show that even though the so called ‘republicans’ own the House, Senate, and Presidency, that the so called ‘democrats’ still maintain more power. That, or it shows the so called ‘democrat’ agenda reveals more closely the agenda of the banksters, who fund everything anyway, regardless of which so called political party a politician may say he aligns with.
Until our nation mints and owns its own currency again, rather than being beholden to an outside entity for all funding, most of this “spending bill” crap is nothing more than kabuki theater.
Wrong choice. Veto was in order.
Yes, his signature will be required.
If he signs off on a budget without funding to start on the border wall, I’m done with him.
“... Yes, his signature will be required ...”

No, there is no requirement for the president to sign legislation.
The president has 10 days to decide to veto or not to veto,
if he does not sign within 10 days the legislation is deemed law.

Good post.
