This 1927 show was written for Fred and Adele Astaire, and it was the first time that Fred danced in top hat and tails. It ran on Broadway for years.

That’s Gershwin at the piano in this 1927 recording. Note that even though we’re in the electric recording era, the bass lines are still backed by tuba.
