Don't work against Luther Strange, GOP campaign arm warns consultants
The Birmingham News / AL.com ^ | 4/28/17 | HOWARD KOPLOWITZ

The National Republican Senatorial Committee, which recruits and defends Republican candidates, could not immediately be reached for comment. But Politico first reported on the NRSC's stance, and it has been republished on political blogs.

The NRSC's push to make it more difficult for Strange's opponents to hire political consultants gives the senator a larger advantage in holding on to his seat as the summer's special election looms.

"We have made it very clear from the beginning that Sen. Luther Strange would be treated as an incumbent," NRSC spokeswoman Katie Martin told Politico, according to remarks posted the Andalusia Star. "It has also been a clear policy that we will not use vendors who work against our incumbents."

Strange has been a senator for nearly four months after he was appointed by then-Gov. Robert Bentley to fill the seat left vacant by Jeff Sessions, who left the Senate to be President Donald Trump's attorney general.

Christian Coalition of Alabama president Dr. Randy Brinson, state Rep. Ed Henry, and former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore have announced they are running for the seat as well.

Here's what the article doesn't mention. As Attorney General, Strange was investigating Governor Bentley and his affair with alleged mistress Rebekah Mason and the criminal use of campaign funds to support Mason.

There's a whole lot of allegedly criminal activities that Bentley & Mason we're allegedly involved in, but that's for another post.

When Jeff Sessions was appointed AG by President Trump, Bentley saw his opportunity to get Alabama AG Luther Strange off his tail. So after Strange announced that he was halting the Bentley investigation, the Governor appointed him to fill Sessions' senate seat.

No word yet if Jennifer Medeiros will again profit from a Luther Strange political campaign.

Why this is just like the RATs here in CA telling contractors who work on Trump’s wall are of the list of qualified bidders for state business.

Strange Luther accepted the Senate appointment in exchange of laying off the corrupt governor.

I don’t know enough about Luther Strange, but the fact that the NRSC is backing him gives the feeling he is not on the side of the citizens and the rule of law.
They only back Cheap Labor Express stooges.

Establishment hates Roy Moore. Liberals and the ruling class hate Roy Moore. The citizens love to stick it to them all and keep electing him to something.

He called off the investigation of Gov. Bentley and was quickly appointed to Sessions’ senate seat.

My admiration for Gov. Ivey grew by leaps and bounds when she did that.

That took guts.

The kids (reporters) at al.com are so confussed about this.

They know what Strange did to cover for Gov. Bentley, who they hated with a white hot passion long before he was exposed for having a mistress.

But they hate Roy More even worse because “gay” is their thing. And Roy is seen as anti-gay.

The editor of the paper is gay. The main columnist has a gay brother that all the bad anti-gay people made feel uncomfortable. The other columnist is very anti-religion and pro-gay. He HATES Roy Moore.

So it’s going to be quite a quandary for the Birmingham News and their state news arm, al.com.

They know Luther is dirty, but if they do their jobs and report it, they might accidentally get Roy Moore elected.

So my guess is that it will be a close race. Mobile, Birmingham, Montgomery, Huntsville areas will support Luther. The other more rural, religious areas will go Roy. How the middle breaks will define the race. The middle in Alabama can be an odd group. If Luther can be painted as either entitled or dirty then Roy could win. Luther will try to paint Roy as an Embarrassment to the state which might backfire. I expect the state GOP to be hostile to Roy. Hmmmm. I will have to look at this closer. Personally I like Roy’s history and his willingness to stand his ground against all to keep true to himself. Is he real or theatrical?

Give 'em Hell!

YEARS ago — like maybe 1998 — I quit giving to the NRSC, and a principle reason I quit was because of their support for iffy GOP incumbents in Primary campaigns against more Conservative GOP challengers. Well, there they go AGAIN! This support for Luther is just another brick in the wall, as far as I'm concerned, and I just got on the horn and gave them an earful over it.

As far as I care the NRSC can wither and die as an organization if they won't get their heads right as to who warrants support and who doesn't. Bentley's quid pro quo trading Sessions' vacated Senate seat for Luther's abdication of his investigation into Bentley — that's corruption that ought to put Luther on the outs with the NRSC; the man's demonstrated a willingness to engage in corrupt behavior for personal aggrandizement.

That ain't how you drain the swamp, Sunshine!!

Nearly TWO DECADES on, the NRSC is once more demonstrating that they aren't intent on solving America's problems, they are intent on solving ONLY the immediate, and grossly self-serving, problem of keeping GOP-labeled incumbents in office through the next election cycle.

The NRSC needs its own in-house Reformation, and I took occasion to tell them so. Trump got into the White House with monumental support from American Conservatives who get pissed on by the NRSC on a regular basis, and those dimwits need to do some SERIOUS introspection as party-affiliated organization and answer the core question, "Who are we serving, really?" They're either going to blindly serve incumbents in Washington against all comers, or they're going to open their stopped ears to the universe of Republicans, and Conservative non-Republicans who elected Trump, and serve that broader base among "We, The People" who more reliably support honest men as candidates for election to the U.S. Senate.

At this hour, however, the NRSC is tone deaf, and that needs to change, and the ONLY way it'll change is if people who don't like what they're doing will grab them by the lapels, and register their unhappiness with them.

DO IT TODAY.

Yeah, I have a feeling McConnell will be down here soon, telling everyone that Judge Roy Moore is a racist, getting democrats to cross over and vote for Strange just like they voted for Thad Cochran in Mississippi.

Cochran, McConnell and Strange are all democrats with an R next to their names and the NRSC is nothing but a group of backstabbing political assassins. It would be better if they all lose.

They will find contractors to build Trump’s wall in CA. They will be contractors who don’t need no stinking state business.
