I am not going anywhere with it.You are free to do with it as you please. You are free to have your opinion. You are free to go with it where you please. Your opinion is as valid as anyone else’s. The facts are that you are not informed as you think you are. Go back to the beginning. The Agency the thugs worked for stated stated that they had no powers of arrest. And they also stated that their employees acted improperly and were on suspension while being investigated with the possibility of criminal charges being filed against them [or words t that effect]. The guy that is alleged to have did the hitting was suspended right away. His accomplices were suspended as the investigation progressed. They did have limited powers of detention. They were not authorized to carry firearms. Their primary duty was to keep people out of unauthorized areas. Should his removal from the airplane been necessary because of a legal reason, it would have been done by sworn police officers with full police powers. Lastly, if the three thugs had been acting within the scope of their powers [authority] and their actions were righteous, why were they suspended?

Thanks for being sane. I wasn’t at the location and don’t know everything. The videos don’t show everything. I can be unaffected by this event and have no emotions for any of it. The way I see it there was a incident and both sides had legal, financial and moral opinions. They decided to settle it so now both parties are whole again. Great country, great outcome. I am glad both parties are settled. I love our country where we have the freedom to seek and gain resolution to issues between both small (individuals) and large(multinational) entaties. If in the process the non related parties get benefit in service, knowledge, clarification, great. Again thank God for the USA.

You say you are not going anywhere with me, and I don't think I will get anywhere with you either.

Since that is an area of agreement, I think we should leave it at that.

City Proposes Removal of Word 'Police' From Aviation Department Security

Your link led me to this:

A longstanding policy prohibits those aviation police officers from carrying a gun even though they are certified law enforcement officers; about 300 of them work along with armed Chicago police, which is the primary law enforcement agency at both airports.

And this:

The union contended the city is moving “to strip the aviation officers of their authority as special police officers” and asked the board to order the city not to make any changes to the officers’ “duties or symbols of authority” until it gives the union notice and “a full opportunity to bargain over proposed changes.”

Union spokesman Adam Rosen said that without the word “police,” airport users won’t understand the officers have full police powers.

I am amicable to that. People can disagree without being disagreeable. If anything I said came off as insulting to you, it was not intended to be that way. And I apologize. And likewise,I took none of your comments as an insult. On this one, we are two individuals with different opinions. Maybe we will be in agreement next time. God Bless you and good luck. Also, except this one, I am favorably impressed by your assessments and comments.

Honestly, I don’t have the time or patience to argue with someone who believes Dao injured himself. Or, for that mstter, with someone so hate-filled toward Dao that they characterize his screaming once he was being injured as throwing a fit. Intelligence requires a measure of objectivity. Your anti-Dao bias has deprived you of that.

Daoo was 69 yo. His body wasn’t up to the stresses and abuse to which the thugs subjected it. For you to characterize him screaming AFTER the assault began says everything about you and zero about Dao. Go ahead and stew in your mind-numbing Dao hate. It’s unbecoming, but it’s your choice.

On the Net anybody can say anything. If you were a conservative you’d respect JR and his site rules too much to scream the F-word. You degraded FR the way someone who disdains decency would.

In short, you acted like a liberal.

Well thank you, and God bless you as well.

I think everyone involved in this sorry incident should be ashamed of themselves. This is a situation in which I wish everyone who was involved had gotten spanked.

I do not mean to be irritable, but the older I get the more curmudgeonly and skeptical I feel. :)

And good luck to you as well.

I didn't say that. I didn't imply it. I said his injury was the result of an unfortunate accident and that neither he nor the police officers intended for any injuries to occur.

Or, for that mstter, with someone so hate-filled toward Dao that they characterize his screaming once he was being injured as throwing a fit.

I don't hate Dr. Dao, I just thought he acted very childish. Also his screaming started before he was injured. I don't recall him screaming at all after he was injured. He kind of shut up and let them drag him at that point.

Go ahead and stew in your mind-numbing Dao hate.

I don't know what to say to this. I guess the best I can do is quote Wolfgang Pauli:

Do you really think that United paid that quickly if he cause his own injuries?

I thought it was obvious he did cause his own injuries and did too good of a job.

I wonder how much Dao had to pay the airline... I guess we will never know.
