In a study recently published in Earth and Planetary Science Letters, geologists at the Royal Holloway University report finding a massive lake of molten carbon the size of Mexico located some 217 miles below the earths surface across the western United States. The volume of the earths upper mantle carbon reservoir is now estimated to be 100 trillion metric tons, which will gradually make its way to the earths surface through volcanic eruptions and slowly contribute to global warming, we are told, unless there should be a sudden release which could have dire consequences.

Ruh Roh! These guys are just begging for a "visit" from the likes of bill nye the bowtie guy and manbearpig. Obviously made up "facts" to take the spotlight off of evil humans who continue to pollute the erf.

If it ever “make its way to the earths surface through volcanic eruptions “, climate change will be the least of our worries..................

Obviously the only solution is a global socialist command economy.

Great article. But same old crap of saying the Watermelons do not understand the science or the errors in their thinking. They understand that trash then pollution then the next ice age then AGW and now Climate Change are useful tools in pursing their totalitarian genocidal government goals. Every article like this just reinforces the dangerous notion that we just need to come together and reason things out.

All the Western States which are Co-located atop thus massive carbon field should be fully prepared to pay a sizable Carbon tax upon its eventual release!

A problem of that magnitude can not be solved by changing light bulbs.
If it even is a problem, methinks those carbon reservoirs did not just appear yesterday.
I'm sure if you dig deep enough, you will find enough of any element to wipe out humanity hundreds of times over.
After all, the Earth has a lot of volume, we occupy only a very thin shell on top, and we're only gnats in that shell.

Since they believe we evolved as a species whats to worry about? We will just adapt as a species that can survive in lava.

Ah, we've seen what major eruptions can do to the Earth's climate. Look at what happened after the 1815 Mount Tambora eruption and the 1883 Krakatoa eruption--it ended up cooling the Earth for nearly a decade afterward.
And there are multiple active volcanoes in the Indonesian Archipelago that can erupt with the force of Tambora as I type this.

That’s what kim jung un is doing. He’s just misunderstood. He’s not really “testing” nukes, he’s trying to save humankind.

So, this molten carbon comes spewing out of the earth and when it hits the “cold” air it turns into diamonds and then everyone in the whole world will be rich.

There is also the possibility that this carbon layer with other reactions, produces hydrocarbons in the earth’s crust, and we will never run out of so-called fossil fuels.
