More winning. I guess the threat of pulling out all together got Mexico and Canada scrambling. I'm sure "funding" the border wall will be discussed with Mexico at this time too.

Well, President Trump always said he (or his people) know exactly how to negotiate so that we come out on top.

Plenty of experience there so I’m sure he will.

Seem to remember reading (earlier today) that a federal judge has ruled this is unconstitutional and NAFTA can in no way ‘be tinkered with’ (paraphrasing here)

DJT= MAGA
Despite the communist judges we have in AMERICA!
These scum buckets are the lowest living creatures on earth.
They make the black plague appear to be a blessing.

It’s an “agreement” not a treaty and can be scrapped on a whim.

Anyone who ever traded in horses knows exactly what he was doing, and a great many others besides. It’s only the liberactionaries and regressives and the MSM who can’t get their brain around it.

You can bet that slapping a 20% retroactive tariff on Canadian lumber products brought Trudeau to the table. The Mexicans were in the cross hairs for similar treatment.

Yep, Mexico will pay for the wall, they likely will pay a 2% tariff on all goods mexico exports to the USA, until the WALL is built and paid for. Congress will have a fit.

Well done President Trump! I love the winning!

Sadly, on another thread there are FReepers whining & moaning that Trump isn’t ending NAFTA. Boggles my mind.

I want to see “Product of USA” on my darn meat purchases, again.

Everyone took off the country of origin information to comply with a NAFTA/WPA ruling that Congress decided to super-size and go beyond what was needed. Now, 99% of lunch meat andnother pre-packaged meat has NO country of origin information. This is simply due to Canadian meat producers getting mad that their meat was being pypassed for USA meat.

I would trust Canadian meat over Mexican meat; but I want to be choosing what I buy, and I don't want to support Mexico.

Change this, Congress!

I happen to agree. There is most definitely a method to the (apparent) madness with Trump - which any slightly curious person could have (and still can) easily learn about, simply by reading his book, The Art of the Deal. In it, among many other things, Trump tells the world how he negotiates: ask for much more than you want, so that you have room to “give away” things and still get what you want (and, usually, even more than that). By campaigning on getting rid of NAFTA, and filing notice of cancelling NAFTA with the Canucks and Greasers a couple of days ago, he forced both of them to the table. After bombing Syria and Shitholeistan, errr, Afghanistan, plus going eyeball-to-eyeball with the Norks, Trump is showing world leaders what banks and competitors have known for a long time - that Trump is not to be trifled with, so you better negotiate with him to get your best deal possible.

More than a “method to the madness,” this is a brilliant plan for success that he’s followed with great success for roughly 5 decades. Glad that he’s working for us now, and not just his own account.

Plenty of Canadians would love to see NAFTA renegotiated. Hydro electric and oil and water can stop being sold at a discounted price to US. With NAFTA gone first thing Canada will do is build a slew of fuel refineries and open a west to Asia shipping route. China is invested heavy in Canadian energy and mining.

US is the bigger beneficiary in NAFTA with Canada, Canada would love to renegotiate.

Trump is playing a different game than everyone else. The politicians are just getting in the way at this point. Congress is useless.

“NAFTA has been a catastrophic trade deal for the United States.”
True Ralph Nader said the same thing in the 1993.

On April 18, 2017, Mr. Trump signed an Executive Order “To provide a preference for the goods, products, or materials produced in the United States.”

He is placing America first.

Sadly, today Michael Medved said on this radio show, “The flood of illegals across the border has stopped, because the Mexican economy is doing so well. Doing away with NAFTA would be a huge mistake, since doing away with NAFTA will destroy the Mexican economy and cause a new flood of illegals in this country. And no one wants that.”

Very sad. Medved is a globalist who does not value American goods and products. Plus, it is silly to say that the Mexican economy improved enough to change the direction of immigration in the last two months. No wonder Medved did not support Trump.

I know a guy, chemical engineer, for GE sylicons that was sent to Mexico to teach his replacement then got 18 months of furlough pay via NAFTA.

Another guy he worked with got a wicked infection down in Mexico because the nearby sewage plant flooded. They gave him Cypro which basically kills EVERY bacteria in your body, including your gut (intestines). Your body then has to culture/develop the bacteria in your gut again. The first time he eat mayonnaise he was laid up for three days with violent diarrhea.
