MURRAY: I think Jonathan Haidt, the social psychologist who started the academy was right. He was right. He had an interview a few weeks ago where he said the 'Deplorables' comment by Hillary Clinton changed the history of the world, and he may very well be right. That one comment by itself may have swung enough votes, it certainly was emblematic of the disdain with which the New Upper Class looks at mainstream Americans.

You trace through the next 50 years where America get fragmented into two classes, who are not only different in terms of wealth, they are different in terms of their values, and even their epistemology.

Incentives are different. The people? Not as different as Charles Murray wishes... Odd to think Murray doesn't 'get it'... he's been living in an intectually self-serving bubble too long.

That said, he's right about Hillary losing because of the deplorable comment... she's as out of touch as he is - maybe more so.

No, more repulsive is that this was NOT an accident, but a planned and strategized agenda. Did you know there was a second televised interview where HRC called Trump's supporters deplorables? Here it is.

She is unlikable, period end of story.
Even people who like her don’t really like her.

Yes, she did alienate many who weren’t used to paying attention. She can only blame her own mouth.

Her rant about why she wasn’t 50 points ahead would have scared me off if I weren’t already not voting for her, for example.
It reeked of insanity, not just narcissism.

Agreed - That was indeed a seminal moment.

The barely suppressed madness is palpable.

Just look at those eyes boring in with resentment and hate.

Reaction to Hillary’s ‘deplorables’ remark....

THE WRATH OF THE AWAKENED SAXON
by Rudyard Kipling

It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the Saxon began to hate.

They were not easily moved,
They were icy — willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the Saxon began to hate.

Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
No man spoke it aloud
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not suddently bred.
It will not swiftly abate.
Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the Saxon began to hate.

I followed all of their scams closely while the Clintons in the White House, but I had forgotten about a couple of them. Good reminder. Great article by Michael Kelly.

That’s what I tell my wife, your exact words, but she thinks I’m exaggerating. Evil Incarnate.

I believe this is true.

But it would not have had the same effect without the preceding 10 years or so of calling everyone and his cat a racist, bigot, homophobe, Islamaphobe, ect.

Her statement was the very last straw.

Thank you for bringing it up that she said the deplorable line not once, but twice (that we know of).

This was not some off-the-cuff remark.

Then wrapped it up with, “Math is hard.” Perfect!

It's what my wife said to me just prior to posting it.

“Has the source of this (deplorables) ‘speech’(?) ever been determined?”

I think so, but can’t recall who. Also IIRC, she had said this once before in another setting. That speech didn’t get the attention that this one did, though — by a long shot!

She did go to Wellesley, ok???

Does not qualify her to refer to her fellow Americans as “deplorables.”

That does sound upper crust British!

"she was done in by a slip of the tongue."

Wow, same thing (slip of the tongue) happened with Bill and Monica on that blue dress.

...” Hillary derided at least 50% of the population”....

Yes and more....but this is actually how many elites do think of our society. We are the deplorables who have not excelled via the corrupt ways and means they’ve attained their positions of power, but somehow they believe we need their advice or assistance on how to live. When in fact it’s simply rules and regulations to enable their way of life.

In the middle and lower classes, sociopaths and psychopaths go to prison for their crimes against humanity. In the upper, they are pressed to run for office.

Sociopaths, like homosexuals, are about 2% of the population, but greatly command the control structures of government, media and entertainment: any field not pressed to be productive and efficient.

I’m sure Kaine walked away with a substantial payoff for fulfilling his role. Nobody in their right mind would stand along side Hillary without a huge cash payout!
